Default 4k & Physical Media Back at Best Buy (online)!

Check the site- they are live. Nearly 2000 4k titles

I think this was discussed on slickdeals and the conclusion was 3rd party sellers like gruv, not bestbuy directly.

They aren't the seller tho.. Other distributors are just using their retail platform.

The return of atrocious pricing! I also think they're going through a third party.

They are going through a number of third parties, but if you filter prices Low to High it's not too bad or too far off of what first party was before

To be clear, it's not actually Best Buy, but it is another way to buy physical media. That's not a bad thing. Just might come in handy if something sells out on the other sites.

It might be interesting to see if any of these third parties use BB as a platform come black friday. Or if say SDS does their next offsite 3 for 33 deal at BB instead of amazon.

Perhaps mods could move the thread that’s already been started for this over here? Or maybe just resurrect the Best Buy thread from Retail/Shopping hell and merge them?

Your location says Canada. Maybe what you say is true in the Great White North, but as far as I’m aware this is a new development for Best Buy in the USA.

I’ve seen people confirm you can use Best Buy rewards on third party sellers. The site also says you can return these items to stores. In practice, it would seem this won’t be very different from Best Buy themselves selling movies online-only.

Good to know you can use rewards. I still have a BB credit card I use as a primary card so I rack up a good amount of points - and most of the time can’t decide what to use them on!

Going to check out the selection now!

If items can be returned to a store, that would make it less risky to order from sites like Gruv.

I can’t find a way to sort movies by release date on the app.

Of the movies I have seen, those prices are pretty much MSRP.

I’ll keep an eye on it though. Maybe some of the listings will lower over time!

Eh, the way I look at it is that would just be more obsolete DVDs I'd had to upgrade over the past 15+ years. I shopped their big DVD sections too but I never went whole hog into DVD, gave me much less to rebuy once HD came along. I see a lot of heavy collectors from that era still rocking tons of DVDs that have since been upgraded cause they just couldn't be bothered to upgrade everything, I'm glad to have minimized the DVDs I've carried through to now.

When used DVDs and some Blurays are sold for a dollar, people buy them by the handful.

Not crappy Dollar Tree leftovers, good titles and they don't care that it's DVD.

One store sells them for 25 Cents during their twice annual storewide sale, dollar CDs also go for 25 cents and not crappy titles. AC/DC, Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers, Beatles Past Master just to name a few.

People love DVDs at the right price. Popcorn movies like Fast and Furious blurays are regularly going for a dollar. Comedies too.

Here's what holds its value: horror, Criterion and boutique labels

People are trading in boatloads of DVDs, Blurays and CDs. Boomers are downsizing.

I just bought the entire Seinfeld DVD collection for $9 and the first TV Flash DVD for $1 in Like New condition. You'd have to be awful lucky to find these for 25 cents during the sale. I bought Seinfeld because it was just sitting there and in excellent condition.

I one time time bought all of the Friends DVDs for a dollar/season complete and sold them on Ebay for $50. Those days are gone now.

But people still like DVDs at the right price.

The point is having wall to wall physical media regardless of the format.

The funny thing is that a lot of Best Buy stores were still selling off what they had left from '23 and prior for months after the "official end" of physical media at Best Buy. And I recall that you could still buy it online until about May-June.

So, really, Best Buy was only out of the physical media game for less than a year and a half.

The Knights of Prosperity, short-lived show in 2007 about a group of people down on their luck who want to rob Mick Jagger's home. Only need to watch the first 12 seconds of this clip.
