Night of the Demon (1957)

Jacques Tourneur’s classic horror thriller, Night of the Demon, aka Curse of the Demon, is scheduled for a September 2 release on Blu-ray in Oz courtesy of Shock Records. This, to the best of my limited knowledge, will be the film’s debut on Blu-ray.

Tourneur helmed the original, legendary Cat People, one of the most effectively lit films in cinema history, and the vastly underrated Comedy of Terrors, which was part of the Roger Corman/Vincent Price series of films of the sixties, most of them based, often loosely, on the works of Edgar Allan Poe.

Considering the film’s distributor, I’m not holding out much hope for an impeccable transfer, but, who knows, maybe Shock will turn out something halfway decent. At any rate, I thought this would be a good excuse to start a discussion on classic horror/sci-fi/fantasy films available or soon-to-be-available on Blu-ray Down Under. And maybe, just for a change, we could keep this thread free of our hassles with tardy shipping.
