Default American Gangster and the gold '07 Camry

I don't know if anybody else spotted this, but at 2:32:29 of the extended version of the American Gangster BD, when Richie Roberts is waiting for Frank Lucas outside the church and the camera shows what's to the right of Frank on the street, there's a police barricade, and passing by behind the police cars is a 2007 gold Camry, even though this is supposed to be 1974, or 75!!!

Man, this movie is good, but seriously, how can a director like Ridley Scott let this happen? And what about all the rest of the film crew? Are you going to tell me that nobody spotted that Camry when I spotted it at first glance? I'm not even one of those people who find errors in movies really easy, there's supposed to be 43 errors in Dark Knight and I saw the BD twice, and I didn't see one of them. I wasn't looking though, I found the list after seeing it.

And the editor, he didn't see this? He's watching with more care than anybody else. They could've digitally removed it and replaced it with anything else from 1974.

Really, it's so lame and obvious that for a moment I thought it was put there as joke, but the movie is too serious for that.

Remember the guy walking backwards wearing jeans in Gladiator? Isn't that another Ridley Scott movie?

You can try and try to keep things in order on sets but sometimes things slip through.

Titanic has few anachronisms including a wrong colored Statue of Liberty holding a wrong colored torch.

The Mummy '99 includes ancient books not ancient scrolls.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit plays with Hollywoodland history...er, I mean Hollywood history. At least that's what the sign in the movie says.

The best example of tough editing, in my opinion as bar none, is Bullitt with the infamous chase sequence. The car loses more hubcaps than it physically has, background cars are recycled repeatedly, and vehicular damage is random.

thats funny, too much on the directors mind to catch everything. But someone should of edited it. probably why its in the extended.

Here's a scene from Gladiator (Ridley Scott) where you can see the gas canister used to flip over the "prop" chariot.

If you want a funny continuity error, check out Gunmen with Christopher Lambert and Mario Van Peebles,(if you can find it). There's a scene in an armory where Lambert lifts a handgun and points it at Peebles. In the next shot, the gun has changed to a six-shooter. It changes a few times. Now, surely Lambert himself would have noticed that IT'S EVEN REMOTELY THE SAME WEAPON!! LOL!!

Hell, even LOTR has massive continuity errors...

You mean "should have" edited? English, please!

Yes, they should have digitally erased it, most likely replace it with a 74 or 75 giant car to take up all the space of the Camry.

I already sent back the disc, but I don't know if it's only in the extended. It's an important scene, I would guess it's in the theatrical version as well.

this is something i noticed in TDK that bugged me. i dont know if this is even considered an error and it may have already been brought up elsewhere..but..

the part in the dark knight when batman goes after the mob lord or whatever and dangles him out the window and then he drops him and i assumed broke his legs or at least injured them, but then you see him a couple scenes later just walking around without a limp or anything!

Check out Little Miss Sunshine when they pull into the gas station after the call drops on Richard. When Grandpa and Frank are having the discussion about buying porn mags. Check out the empty space next to Grandpa, now cut to Richard on the phone, now go back to the car.

Holly heck, Dwayne is sitting next to Grandpa now and in the middle of reading a book.

Editing errors will always happen. Even the best of the best can not catch them all.

The Fugitive had a great editing error where right after the train wreck, a film crew member can be seen quite clearly. This error was finally corrected on the 2001 special edition DVD with the crew member digitally erased. BUT...the HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc still have error because they used the master from the 1997 DVD!

Raiders of the Lost Ark had one of the infamous errors. When Indiana Jones falls into the well of snakes, you could clearly see that a pane of glass was between him and the snake. in 2003, the glass pane reflection was removed digitally and has not been seen since.

Blade Runner had its editing errors finally corrected for the Final Cut edition. Previously, you could tell a stuntwoman was used when Dekker shoots Zhora and that Rick's lips don't match what he was saying to the snake merchant. To fix these, Joanna Cassidy came in and redid the entire death sequence and the stuntwoman digitally replaced. Ben Ford, Harrison's son, came in to redo the snake merchant dialogue for his father. They even added the chin scar with makeup to Ben's face.

Blade Runner, despite being an amazing film, did have it's share of mistakes, I will always remember when one of the spinner takes off and you can see the crane cables that are holding it in mid-air. I also spotted this in Empire Strikes Back when Yoda lifts the X-Wing from the swamp, you could catch the cable on that as well.

How about on "Bucket List" in the scene in the race track. Pay attention to the vehicle damage...

Bringing the thread back on track...

The Camry isn't the only anachronism in American Gangster...

>Modern graffiti (from at least the 1980s to today)
>Current USPS logo

And here is an odd editing error for On Her Majesty's Secret Service...

In the opening, Bond is shaking Tracy awake then a gun is pointed at his head. He is staring at her and Tracy is staring back at him. All of a sudden a knife pops out under her chin. How could he miss that? Even funnier is that you hear four distinct voices, so where is the knife handler kneeling?

Let's also revisit The Mummy Returns...

Steven Sommers admits that he cheated in the edit on the commentary. Right after Imhotep is awakened and sends the royal guards after Rick and Evie. Count the mummies, there are four of them but they only "kill" three. Sommers said that he completely forgot about the fourth mummy and never filmed its "death" in the hopes that audiences would too. They did.
