Default The Recast Thread

Ever thought about a movie with potentially a different cast and how it might make it better or worse? This is a simple, yet fun and creative way to do so. Just recast a movie from the past, or even the future if you feel like creating something new and let us see who you would choose. The actors or actresses can be alive or dead if you'd like. Think Heath Ledger would have been great for a certain film or films after his death? Let us know what movie and character he would have played. Think someone would make a better Bond or Spiderman? Let us know. I'll start.

-------------

Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives)
Produced by Lawrence Bender (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Basterds)

Tyler Durden – Ryan Gosling

Narrator – Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Marla Singer – Eva Green

Angel Face – Zac Efron

Robert Paulson – Brendan Gleeson

I made a thread like this a while back but nice job with Joseph Gordon Levitt as the narrarator! I can definitely see that.

Really? I searched for a thread similar to this and couldn't find anything. Oh well.

Hopefully this thread gets more traction though. This stuff is really fun. I'll post another later tonight.

Humm... Affleck should be replaced with Holt McCallany in the new Batman. While we're at it, should probably replace Eisenberg with Ralph Fiennes as Lex. I like all the other players, though.

I've often wondered what William Lee Scott would have been like as Neo from the Matrix. I think it would have been pretty good, actually.

Speaking of Batman, lets do a recast of the upcoming Batman vs. Superman.

Produced by Kevin Feige (Iron Man, Spiderman, The Avengers)

Batman - Jim Caviezel

Superman - Jon Hamm

Lex Luthor - Bryan Cranston

Lois Lane - Olivia Wilde

Wonder Woman - Daniela Ruah

Alfred Pennyworth - Christopher Plummer

Perry White - Hugh Laurie

Any reason you chose one of the best movies of the nineties to remake-which is what a recast would be?Why not a terrible movie which has an interesting premise...

Can you explain to us why you feel Fight club was an inferior movie since you feel the urge to recast it?

These sort of nonsense threads just gets to me.Don't know why

Oh, I'm not saying it needs to be remade at all. It's perfectly fine and great as is. This is just a fantasy thing that's meant to be fun and creative. I just happened to use one of my favorite movies. If you'd like to try a bad movie, go ahead.

Not everyone thinks fight club is a great movie, including me. I think the thread idea is a fun concept.

Drive (2012) Michael Fassbender or J Phoenix instead of Ryan Gosling

Wolf on Wall Street (2013) Nick Cage instead of Leo

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) Anyone who isn't white to play Khan

Sin City (2005) Josh Hartnett- Heath Ledger. I know it's a small role but but Hartnett sucks.

One of my favorite movies of all-time...

Director: David Fincher (Fight Club, Zodiac, The Social Network, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Panic Room)

Producer: Spike Jonze (Her, Being John Malkovich, Where the Wild Things Are)

The Cast:

Wadsworth: Benedict Cumberbatch

Colonel Mustard: Bill Murray

Professor Plum: Hugh Laurie

Mr. Green: Ty Burrell

Miss Scarlett: Marion Cotillard

Mrs. Peacock: Jessica Lange

Miss White: Rooney Mara (or Olivia Munn)

Mr. Boddy: Vincent D'Onofrio

Yvette the Maid: Emma Stone

The reason I chose these actors and actresses is that, if they ended up doing a remake of is, I would want a more dark and serious tone than the previous version; although I would still want there so be some comedic aspects in it, I would prefer it to have more darkness and seriousness (like a 65-35/70-30 split if it came down to it).

That's a really interesting paring with Fincher and Jonze. Solid cast too. Nice choices.

So then why waste your time responding? Why not start your own thread specifying "only terrible movies" can be recast. Who gets to decide that? You? How dare somebody have fun with a thread on a PUBLIC FORUM.

These sort of nonsensical (and arrogant) responses to threads just get to me. Don't know why.

Haha, I know right. But, a Fincher-Jonze pairing would make one hell of a movie, though. I'd love to see them do a remake of Clue, as I've been waiting for one for years now. This cast and the Fincher-Jonze pairing would give the remake the best chance to succeed. I really, really hope they reboot it and the cast is just half as good as I want it to be.

Not going to add any re-casting ideas to the thread. Just wanted to thumbs-up the OP for putting the extra effort into his thread. At least it's an interesting read, with some good ideas.

Not sure if any of that is directed towards me, but if it is, I appreciate it.

I would use Danny Cooksey (Sam McKinney on Diff'rent Strokes) instead of Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory) to play Professor Plum.

I would also use Nikki Swazey (Lisa Hayes on Diff'rent Strokes) instead of Kaley Cuoco (Penny Whatever Her Last Name Is on The Big Bang Theory) to play Yvette The Maid. Yes, Nikki Swazey is black and 43 (making her 14 years Kaley Cuoco's senior).

But Nikki Swazey is a better actress, better looking and more experienced than Kaley Cuoco.

Even though Naturi Naughton (on the new Starz TV Series Power) is black and 30 (making her 12 years Sofia Vergara's junior), I would use her instead of Sofia Vergara as Miss Scarlett.

Just go to page 591 post number 11,820 of the Actresses From 18 To 39 Who Look Good Thread to find out who Naturi Naughton is and what she looks like (she's hot and a decent actress and singer, IMO; many people would agree with me, FWIW).
