Yeah, F&F 9 isn’t even the title of the movie domestically but they are using it in certain international territories (such as the UK).

F&F titles at certain times have become just confusing, so they might have figured out simply numbering it to be the most sensible decision.

Movie titles from 1-9:

The Fast and the Furious
2 Fast 2 Furious
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
Fast and Furious
Fast Five
Fast and Furious 6
Furious 7
The Fate of the Furious
F9: The Fast Saga

The titles since 4-9 have definitely drifted off.

Fast & Furious 6 also only said Furious 6 on screen. It’s irrelevant in either case. The marketing message is what’s consistent and domestically, it’s F9.
