Default Silent Hills - Guillermo del Toro Starring Norman Reedus, R.I.P.

It started all at Gamescom 2014, during the Sony press conference, with the rather underhanded anouncement that a demo for an horror game called "P.T." was now up on the PS Store.

P.T. Stands for "Playable Teaser"

This has all been revealed to be an interactive teaser for the Upcoming new Silent Hill form Hideo Kojima, with Guilldermo Del Toro involved, and Norman Reedus (of The Walking Dead fame) as main character.

http://www.polygon.com/2014/8/12/599...lermo-del-toro

Quote:
The P.T. playable demo that Sony announced at Gamescom and released earlier today on the PlayStation Store was actually a teaser for another game: a new Silent Hill from Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro.

The PlayStation 4 "interactive teaser" was apparently a stealthy, creative way to announce the new Silent Hill game that Kojima has been teasing for months. At the end of the P.T. demo, a character is shown walking through a quiet, foggy city street. The names Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro appear on screen just before the main character turns around, revealing that he is played by The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus.

The game is apparently called Silent Hills, according to a title card backed by Akira Yamaoka's Silent Hill theme.

You can see a replay of the end of the P.T. demo and the Silent Hills reveal in this Twitch video (skip to 1:16:00) by SoapyWarpig.

Sony announced P.T. as a playable interactive teaser for PlayStation 4 earlier today. The game was credited to 7780s Studio, a heretofore unknown game developer. Kojima employed a similar ruse when announcing The Phantom Pain by the fictitious Moby Dick Studios, a game later revealed to be Metal Gear Solid 5.
Congrats to "Gamergirl" who found this first.

Originally:
This new title is still shrouded in mystery...

But doing things a bit differently, Sony has put an interactive teaser on the PS Store:

Here's a glimpse of it

Possible Morpheus experience?

PT ...
Physical Therapy?
Post Traumatic ... Something ?

Marketing something as an interactive teaser for a game seems stupid to me. Doesn't that just make it a demo? I figured when they were going on about it being an interactive teaser it was for a movie like what Valve did with Super 8.

Either way it isn't the first interactive teaser like they claimed if they insist on calling it that.

Played it for a bit and nearly crapped myself. Really, really good stuff here. It is a bit confusing and not as straight forward as you think. I walked around aimlessly for a bit before checking out some chat boards on what to do next. In the 20 minutes I played it, it is really intense.

Sounds a bit like Outlast in terms of jump factor. Going to download soon.

I'm not big on Kojima and the Silent Hill games have never appealed to me, but Del Toro's involvement has me a little jealous of you PS4 guys. Look forward to seeing more of the game in the future (though I'll probably never get to play it, since no one I know has a PS4 yet).

Damn this is an amazing team to bring Silent Hill back from the dead. Can't wait for this.

Silent Hill 2 remains one of the best games I've ever played. It might have lost it's way slightly in subsequent incarnations but this is the most exciting news I've heard. (Not ever, in the last couple of hours, like)

This could be the Megaton of Gamescom...

Wow.

No word on platforms, but I somehow doubt it would actually be PS4 exclusive.
I guess the PS4 owners got the exclusive teaser though

Well... Derp. Sony involved as a publisher? Maybe for just the "teaser" demo though... weird.

Come join us, we're always looking for fresh brain...I mean, players. Not that we're a zombie horde or anything.

So, is this what Sony's 3rd teaser was? The one about reimagining the horror genre? Because Until Dawn looks fun, but revolutionary it ain't.

This came out of nowhere. Silent Hill comeback? Kojima? del Toro? Wow.

We know it's on PS4. But is it only on PS4? Why the mystery?

I think it's revolutionary from a horror stand-point. Third person survival horror, you play a group of people, they can all die or live. That's quite a twist.

Imagine that, a horror experience where everyone survives at the end.

Hideo Kojima is a master on gameplay and story building but has a tendency to be extravagant in story parts. Del Toro is the perfect foil to this in order to.reign him in, and specifically to finetune horror elements into a big spectacle that brings back Silent Hill to form.

Silent Hill and Resident Evil were amazing games, but both lost their ways. Maybe they'll be back to true survival horror form soon.

That sounds cool, actually. A bit like a horror version of Mass Effect 2's suicide mission.

Kojima isn't what has me excited about Silent Hill, Del Toro is. I've always been a fan, and the Strain has actually been pretty good so far.

I agree about Del Toro the reason to get excited for this. Kojima makes some fun games but can't tell a story for shit. Del Toro will be able to add an amazing story to Kojimas gameplay and bring home a AAA product.

This is probably the best gaming related news I've heard all year.

Would be great if they could get Yamaoka back for the OST. Also would like to see the old camera angles but I don't think we'll ever really see those in a game again.

Everyone play the teaser - it is truly interactive and you can die in it...lol. As a fan of Silent hill since 2001, and of course having played every SH game, this has the best atmosphere in a teaser than I recall....ever!

i am super excited by this news!! and damn, trying to figure out the teaser - its a bit of a brain twister.....

Here's hoping a silent hill game has a 90 min cutscene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
