The Little Rascals Volume 2 Blu-ray

ClassicFlix has announced that it will release on Blu-ray The Little Rascals: Volume Two. The release will be available for purchase on June 29.

Get ready for some June this June as The Little Rascals - The ClassicFlix Restorations, Volume 2 (Blu-ray) is set for a June 29th street date.

The Our Gang franchise really started producing some stand-outs during this period with Miss Crabtree (June Marlow) and her lovesick rascals highlighting four of the shorts in this volume which spans from Pups Is Pups to Dogs Is Dogs.

With each short newly scanned and restored from original Hal Roach 35mm film elements, this collection is a must-have for any true Our Gang fan.

I have a quick question.

For Vol 1, there is a six week gap between the CF site release and the general release from other retailers. For Vol2, both CF and the general release are the same date.

Is there a reason for the differing release strategies?

Apologize if this is a stupid question, but are these pressed discs or BD-Rs? I've searched through the Vol. 1 thread but didn't see anything and have never purchased from ClassicFlix.

It was a distribution issue. We weren't able to place the set for wide release until June 1st, but the restoration schedule worked out for us to place it for sale earlier on our site.

FYI - Volume 1 will be pushed back slightly to mid-May sometime. We'll make the announcement official when we know for sure.

Not a stupid question as I know other labels have gone that direction for a long time.

While we may sometime in the future we have never sold MODs.

Same goes for all the Rascal releases. They will be replicated (pressed).

I'm pleased to report that all the elements for the first 3 volumes (the first 33 Our Gang sound shorts) have been scanned and approved, and are in various stages of restoration.

And today, we've got another great preview of a short from the upcoming Volume 2: LITTLE DADDY (1931).

As can be seen in the clip, the original 35mm nitrate film elements used for this short provide a terrific picture.

All our shorts will be uncut.

Stepin' was also in our recently released Zenobia (1939) starring Oliver Hardy and Harry Langdon. It's a funny and underrated Hardy "solo" comedy and Stepin' gets in some of the best lines.

Based on previous posts.

There are 80 Hal Roach Talkies. These are the ones that Classic Flix are releasing. There will be seven volumes - about 11 each for the first five (mostly two-reelers), and about 17 for the last two (mostly one-reelers). So each volume will be about 3-3.5 hours long.

The 52 MGM Talkies are owned by Warners (along with the feature General Spanky) and have not been part of this discussion (so, unlikely).

The 88 Silents have been mentioned, and CF said they would be open to doing something, but it would depend on how well financially their current project is. I don't know if all of these still exist.
