Default Xbox One 4k incompatible discs as of Dec 2017

A friend of mine is having difficulties playing the Spiderman Homecoming 4k disc sold by HMV UK. The disc just whirs around and nothing happens.

I did a quick google and it seems its not an isolated case with many complaining of Oblivion and Lucy being already documented problematic cases.

Of course, if you put the same disc in another dedicated 4k player it works fine.

Shouldn't we have a thread at Bluray.com for this type of thing? I am guessing a lot of you have doubled up your Xbox gaming with a 4k player of UHD discs?

Perhaps its a bad disc then. I noticed in the threads at other forums that the problem gives an error code for the Universal discs, where as my friend says he gets a blank screen.

Xbox One S and while I haven't popped in my HMV copy yet, my other standard copy plays fine.

Can anyone confirm or even better got the U.K. discs working on his machine?

Thx

There's no way I'd use that as my 4K disc player and it costs double

Cool story bro, "would stubiedoo use the XBox One X as a 4K player when his signature clearly shows he has a chubby for Playstation" is not the point of the thread...

Back on topic. The HMV Spiderman 3D disk gave me issues, but the 4K was fine. I haven't tried the others as I use the Oppo as my main player.

The only problem I've ever had with XBox One S as a 4K player was with the Stranger Things blu rays. A software update to the blu ray player fixed that.

I think having a thread is a good idea. At least we could compare notes.

I got the Kingsman 2 Pack, and I can't get Kingman: The Secret Service to play in my Xbox One X. The Golden Circle was totally fine, though.

I've had issues playing a few discs, but found that reinstalling the blu ray app seems to fix the issue.

I had the same Problem with Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The disc tried to boot and then the Blu-Ray-Disc-Player-Program hung itself.
Watched Deadpool instead.
After I finished the movie I tried Spider-Man: Homecoming again, and lo and behold, it worked!
Seems to be a shitty laser in the XBoneS
