Algiers
Algiers is an Atlanta-based band with a fascinating blend of gospel vocals, punk guitar, hip-hop, electronic percussion, and live drums. They captured my attention back in 2015 when some friends and I went to see their album release party for their fierce self-titled debut. Their second album, The Underside of Power, which was released last month, lives up to the promise of their debut and features an even more focused sound. It's not often that a newer band really quickens my pulse, but Algiers is pretty amazing.
