Default NBC Uni at CES

I know that they are DUD exclusive, but they just launched a website dedicated to what they are doing at CES at http://www.nbcuatces.com/. If you're at the show I would encourage you to stop by and be one of the thousands of people that ask them when they are going to go blu. Interesting note about their web site: they mention Blu-ray being a notable product introduction back in 2003...oddly from the Uni camp it and the Nintendo back in '85 are the only two that show up in bold on the site.

Holy ####! This could be HUGE news! It really sounds like Universal is making a move...that last post was just crypic enough to sound like they are gonna do it!

Yes... It was quite prominent (and no mention of HD-DVD). Even a picture of a BD-R disc to go with it.

maybe they have smelled the coffee and are positioning themselves. Hope so.

I would be happy with even a dual-format announcement.

Very interesting, probably means nothing but quite interesting The website mentions the introduction of Blu-ray disk in bold and displays a picture of a Blu-ray disk without referecing HD DVD.

Wow.

That is _very_ interesting that they don't even have HDDVD on that list!

Not only is Blu-ray bolded but the photo is of a BD-R as well!

AND, am I the only one who thinks their booth looks _a lot_ like the Disney Magical Blu-ray Tour presentation in malls?

Curious stuff.

yeah it's pretty odd that a NBC/Universal site, especially one for CES, has a post like that on it...

Either I am severly missing something here or you guys are all reading WAY to much into this. That last post just says "notable products introduced in past CES shows." Big deal. It has nothing to do with NBC or Universal explicitly. Notice how the NES is on there (not affiliated with either), Xbox (not affiliated with either), Blu-ray in 2003 (not affiliated with either), and the list goes on. It has no relevance to the NBC / Universal post above it.

I would imagine that they are pointing to some kind of deal with Nintendo to allow content either on the Wii or the DS...

While nothing DEFINITIVELY says that anything is going on, this seems to be a STRONG hint!

It is weird but it could just be nothing, but it is weird indeed they highlighted it.
Where are those damn insiders when you need them?

Oh thats right this is the time of day Penton is doing perms.

hmmm I think I'll start dreaming of Universal going blu exclusive, and we'll get Back to the future, JP, and Jaws (I only care about the first 2 series I fail to see the excitement of some shark)

NBC/Universal/Nintendo/Warner megaa merger. All going blu-ray. That's got to be it.

Umm, Ken Graffeo is fired, and we're all blu baby...

Maybe HD-DVD wasn't first introduced at CES.

I wouldn't read into it very much. It's more of an opinion piece by Jon Accarrino. He has a very valid point, and that is which new item announced at CES is going to drain money from my wallet.

Much like him, I'm guilty of owning most of that that list through my lifetime, minus the DVR stuff. I think the 'bolded' ones were more symbolic of his favorites. Not necessarily a change in Universal's studios stance.

I wouldn't read into it anymore past that.
