Jane The Virgin Season 1. DVD's Discontinued?

I was about to purchase Jane the virgin season 1 from amazon and they didnt have it in stock. so i looked at walmart, best buy and target and none of them even have the listing any more.. Whats going on?

I'm no expert, but I've spending a lot of time paying attention to TV series on physical disc for the last couple of years. My best guess is that it's out of print. It could be a supply issue, btw here's WM's (sold out) listing: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Jane-The-...eason/45656322

But it's also not listed that I can see at other retailers like WB Shop, Fry's, Deep Discount, Family Video, or Movies Unlimited. I did find a sold out listing at DVD Empire, FYE and B&N (though some mp sellers still have it for quite a lot) http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd-...eason/28790636

The TV ratings have never been good, and Season 2 isn't even getting a MOD release from WB (they try to do that as much as they can with continuing series, getting them recently for Hart of Dixie and Crazy Ex-GF), so my best guess is that they tried a traditional pressed DVD release for S1 and it didn't do well and/or they created less than usual in anticipation of it's doing less well, and it's now sold through that allotment. If the latter, then maybe they could press more. But due to it's not being available to order from any of those sites, then either the decision hasn't been made yet, or they decided not to make more.

I suppose it's possible that it sold badly, and they still have some left, and it might show up again down the road someplace like Big Lots, or at a discount online seller like Hamilton Books. But considering it was only released about 15 months ago, and isn't available anywhere, then my guess is the odds of that are slim. Sorry.

Season 1 and 2 are getting MOD releases from AMAZON on DVD and BluRay. No release date though.

I can see it getting a complete series release when it's all done. S2 didn't get a release so S3 isn't getting one.

There was an announcement months ago that since it didn't sell well enough for WB to keep releasing it, which is why it's now out of print, that CBS/Paramount will be re-releasing s1 on DVD-R and add a BD-R release on top of that and then release season 2 on DVD-R and BD-R as well... So, no more official pressed discs for the series.

Since they're all MOD now, I'm sure they'll come out but they don't need to be in a rush since it's so behind as it is.
