I am pretty happy with my sound, but a power amp may produce better sound than the amps I get in my Denon 4311.
My speakers are not too sensitive (Ascend Sierra-1NrT) and will definitely benefit from an Amp. Now, here is the question. I know that Emotiva is a very well known and loved brand, thus, you also pay for their branding. What I am trying to find is an Amp that will do better than a Denon 4311 Receiver and costs less because it's either an older amp or a not so well know brand that I can find on Ebay. I am OK with 3 channels to drive my front stage or 5ch for all my speakers. I've looked at Rotel RB-985 and Anthem PVA-5 and those look pretty nice but maybe there are better deals out there. I know very little about amps as I always used a Receiver and hope you guys can shed some light on this. Thank you. |

Buy Emotivia, seriously where are you going to find another brand that offers lots of power on their amps or quality amps without breaking your wallet? Who the hell told you that for Emotiva you are just paying for a brand name?
If you can afford an Anthem Amp, then you should be able to get an Emotiva amp. If not Emotiva, then go for the Monoprice Monolith amps which are highly regarded by the audiophile community. You only need an amp if your receiver is not giving your speakers enough power to run them or that you want your speakers go louder. If you buy an amp because you want better sound, then you are buying it for the wrong reasons. An amp will not give you better sound quality. Last edited by omarchafa; 10-02-2017 at 12:05 AM. |

I understand where you are coming from bro, but here's just a suggestion that's all.. Try to find a used rotel 1095 amplifier( 200x5)....I had them on 2 separate occasions.....sold both with no problems after years of use. Now Rotel's prices have doubled, so try and go used market. probably find one for around $800 depending on condition and age....always be cautious with used gear. But there are NUMEROUS options....enjoy the journey..! ![]() ( I'm not certain on your budget but I can vouch for the new class D amps out there put by many online companies,....direct from the manufacturer. I'm sure many will share their experiences with you.....good luck bro! ) |

I've put my 4K desire on hold because of an Anthem 3-channel amp.
