Default Question Regarding Box Sets and 'Complete Collection' View

Hello,

Long-time lurker/infrequent poster here. I've recently started cataloging my collection on the site, and have found it to be quite useful. I have a question about how the site handles box sets...

When viewing my collection in the 'Complete Collection' view, some box sets are broken down into their individual titles. For instance, the movies in the Universal Monster box sets are listed separately in my collection, which I find very helpful. However, not all box sets behave this way. Multiple Criterion box sets, for instance, are simply listed under their collection title, and are not broken down into their individual movies. '3 Silent Classics by Josef von Sternberg', for instance, is listed under that title...but the 3 movies are not listed separately. Why is this? I LOVE the way the site handles the Universal Monster boxes...so that I can see the individual titles, and also see the box set that they belong to. Simply listing the box set as one title is significantly less helpful when browsing your collection for individual movies. Why does the site handle box sets in such different ways? Is there a work-around for this? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I think it's because the titles in question are not listed as "bundles". For example, this movie:

When you click on the title, scroll down the page and you can see "This Blu-ray bundle includes the following titles, see individual titles for specs and details". So there is a page in the database for each film listed in the box set. But for your Josef von Sternberg collection, no one has gone into the DVD page and listed that it is a bundle.

I attempted to do this for you, but the database gave me an error saying there was no entry for "Underworld" (despite me looking right at it). These were the ID codes for the movies if you can figure out what the problem was: 591217, 349626, 427896

Quite a lot of what's in the database has been submitted by regular members, such as yourself. Some don't care about seeing the individual titles, some don't know how to do it, some don't want the extra work, and some don't like the downside (which sometimes means creating individual titles for movies that were never released individually, or 2nd entries if the existing entries have different specifications than the bundle/box set).

Example:

This isn't getting a DVD release: https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/The-Blac...ne-DVD/140609/

But it's in the system anyway, so that it can contribute to this entry: https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/The-Blac...ne-DVD/140642/

The solution here is to create DVD entries for the 3 films in the Josef von Sternberg set, unless they're already in the system (which they don't seem to be), then edit the box set entry to add those 3 DVD id's.

Those are the ID's for the movies, which is not what's needed here. You would need to use the DVD ID codes (which don't seem to exist yet for any of these). Once created, edit the box set under Bundle IDs, listing every DVD ID with commas but no spaces.
