Hotstar is coming to US in mid September

I think Hotstar is launching its services in US in mid September. Hope they provide 1080p with 5.1 content unlike 720p content in India.

Its available now on http://us.hotstar.com/ They added Baahubali2 Telugu movie. I am not sure whether its just 720P or 1080P with 5.1.

As of now, they have apps for only Apple TV and Chromecast.

If they are not launching Hotstar USA in 1080p and 5.1 DD+, they cannot compete with Netflix which is giving 7 gbps 1080 quality.

Currently, Hotstar is giving 1 month free. I'm still skeptical. As long as they have Z Cinema HD and Z Classic (hopefully in HD) prints, I'm all game for $10 provided it gives you 1080p and 5.1 DD+.

You are missing the main point. Hotstar will have Indian content which won't be present on Netflix (at-least going forward)! So even people with Netflix subscription will end up paying for Hotstar irrespective of if they have 5.1 and 1080p just because of content.

Its a shame that Hotstar being part of huge media house like Star cannot come close to competing with Amazon Prime Video or Netflix interms of video and audio quality.

For US, Canada audiences, as long as Google Play & itunes has MISSION KASHMIR, PARINDA, DHANWAAN and SAPNE SAAJAN KE(1080p & 5.1 DD+ or Stereo) for $4.99.......DIL SE, DUPLICATE and DEVDAS available for $7.99 (1080p & 5.1 DD+) .........and LOOTERA, AAA, MUNNA BHAI and NAMAK HARAM availabe for $9.99 (1080p) hotstar wont be needed by majority of the NRIs.

I'm sure EROS NOW already has much of the bollywood NRI market cornered atleast with HD video quality (not sure about 5.1 sound?).

only 10% of the available indian entertainment content has some redeeming quality with everlasting value. Rest of the Indian TV content is pure BS.

Meanwhile, check out the EK AUR EK GYARA (2003) Quality German ZEE ONE channel is giving in Full HD to German audiences in dubbed german language!

^ Not really. You are talking only about one language. But hotstar has telugu, tamil, malayalam movies as well which are not available in good quality elsewhere. I am in no way supporting hotstar, but they do have a good market here. As of now we have zee [dittoTV], sun networks [SunNxt] and star network [Hotstar] in US.
