Default weird glitch in Samsung BD-P1500

It rarely happens, I mean its literally happened 3 times since owning this player almost 2 years ago but it happened tonight...

I put in a bluray and there is no audio. Everything is fine but no audio, I simply eject the disc and reload it and then all is fine...

Can anyone explain?

My BD-P1500 has been doing this occasionally, for about 2 years. If you look back to older posts on this forum and on YouTube you will see my complaints about lack of audio. Usually I need to eject the disc, turn off the player, then turn it on and reinsert the disc and it works fine. None of the forum suggestions even Samsung support were of any help, so I have lived with it.

I haven't "lived with it" because it rarely happens. But if it becomes more consistent, I will just replace the player but its still kicking.

the one time I thought it had major issues just was my ignorance in buying a new bluray title and not realizing I needed to update the player's firmware.

In that I use my player almost every day and the audio issue has happened maybe 8 or 10 times, in 2 years, it is not really that hard to live with, just an annoyance when it happens.

Agree with the above post, its more of an annoyance than anything. Like it literally just happened again a few minutes ago when I put on a new disc I bought yesterday. Simply ejected, turned off and back on and fine...

I am so paranoid when it comes to my setup I over analyze so I think its either my tv, setup or the disc itself...but like all have said, it seems to just be an odd glitch in the player from time to time.

Have you upgraded your firmware to version 3.1, released late Dec, 2011. This seems to have not only sped up the BD-P1500, but eliminated a lot of these glitches.

No I haven't, thanks for the heads up. I literally just updated the firmware on the BD-P1500 and on the 1600 in my room...are the differences noticable?

The differences from 3.0 to 3.1 are noticable. I found slightly faster loading times and no sound issues, and no discs it won't play since the update, as well as the old BD-P1500 seems to "behave better". I admit it has only been a few weeks using the new firmware so we will see.

This has to be a player issue since it happens on the 1500 but not 1600. I was watching a film and I paused to come back and it be frozen on that scene, like the only thing the remote could tell the player is to turn off. Odd thing is, I tried it again and same thing but a third time, it was fine...tried it after the movie and it is back. It like freezes when I pause on this one film in one particular scene but if I play it thru, no issues...didn't happen on the 1600 at all.

I am not thinking disc issue as some times it plays other time it pauses and the remote won't communicate.

I have never had this happen with my 1500, to my knowledge. On which disc did this occur, so I can try to see if it happens with mine. Was it DVD or BD?

The Pelican Brief bluray around the 49:09 mark right when Denzel is answering the phone with Julia calling. You have to play the movie and then skip until the 47 mark and then fast forward until the 49 mark for it to freeze. It will rewind and play on that scene and it will play thru without pausing or anything but it only happens when you skip to the scene before and then FF to the 49:09 mark or so.

Thought it was a battery issue so I replaced them and nope. The remote won't do anything on that scene but turn the player off. Odd thing is I watched Transformers last night with no issues and it will let me pause or ff and play from any other part of the film.

It might just be a weird glitch on that disc or something, should I worry too much if it only happens when I skip to that particular scene instead of watching thru?

and thanks for your help man, I have odd hours and I was shocked you replied so quickly. I am already OCD like when it comes to my setup so you can imagine the pain I am in again...even if just an odd glitch that will only happen if I fast forward and then press play at that particular moment in the film lol.

I tried all the steps playing my copy of Pelican Brief (Blu-ray)and couldn't get this problem to happen. It is interesting, that I had a very similar problem with Hope Floats (I like Julia Roberts), it would freeze and I couldn't get any response except "off". I returned the BD to HMV and the replacement copy worked perfectly. The odd thing is that that defective copy worked in my brother's PS3, so I suspect certain defects show up more on different players, especially the BD-P1500 which is tempermental occasionally.

I have a copy of Cape Fear, I will play it again later today, with the new firmware (v 3.1) and see if it freezes or ........, it didn't when I last played it a few months ago (firmware v3.0).

Never had any help with Samsung customer service at all, useless!
BTW, my copy of Pelican seems to play fine, however Green Hornet froze, wouldn't play at first try, (it played fine before) ejected the disc, turned off the player turned it on and the disc played fine. Go figure!
I never tried to downgrade firmware, though it is possible in theory, and I kept all the old burned CD's that I used to upgrade.

I heard downgrade was possible with firmware versions prior to 3.0 only. Starting with that one, it will check the version and refuse to install a prior one.

I guess I can live with it since its minor and only happens when I skip scenes and then ff real quick and then press play right away...and then it happens 2 out of 5 times.

hasn't happened for awhile. I prematurely freaked out when watching the latest Transformers bluray special features tonight as all of a sudden on the menu to go to the next feature the remote stopped communicating. 2 min later, it worked. Why? batteries died lol.
