Not enough detail and to much glare and the 1080ps cost to much.

The Sony V3000 is a good series in your price range. You will be completely happy with it.

Glare is a problem and a 1080P plasma is more than a LCD????

I have to concur on the glare issue. My brother in law has a plasma. Now, he's not thought through placement but a window is opposite his TV and I was really put off by the reflection. I moved my XBR5 to simulate similar conditions and the LCD was much better for me. That said, I moved my LCD to the original intended position and this is a moot issue in my case.

Prices are fairly comparable when you get to the high end of LCDs really. From what I understand Plasmas are still the underdog sales wise (I'd be happy to be corrected as this is just a recollection from time reading articles).

In the end though, it's a subjective discussion. Glare aside I get better blacks with a plasma and better whites with an LCD. I enjoyed plasma and LCD for HD gaming. Noticing the differences are hard. Some will say that plasma allows for a deeper theatre experience with the lights off. Others will say that LCDs give you a brighter experience.

Personally, I went with LCD and wouldn't trade in my XBR5 for any plasma I've seen yet. When I did my shopping I had the chance to see LCDs and Plasmas next to each other. I compared and came away with my preference.

And I wouldn't argue against a preference for plasma either. It's all subjective.

I recommend Samsung or Sony, though Sony can be more expensive. On amazon they have some nice Samsung's for around $1400.

Sony LCD, Panasonic Plasma

The Glare issue is real, depending on your install
The Colors and Blacks are best in plasma

I recommend either, cost is close
