Legendary’s 3D Ghostbusting Action Movie ‘Spectral’ Goes to Netflix
http://www.slashfilm.com/spectral-release-date-netflix/ Spectral has been described as Black Hawk Dawn with supernatural forces — an enticing mashup that Netflix, not Universal, will release next month. The story follows a DARPA scientist who goes on a near-suicide mission with a Special Ops team of Delta Force soldiers. They’ll have to fight in a war-torn European city, where supernatural forces are taking over and causing all sorts of chaos and carnage. Dale is presumably playing one of the Delta Force soldiers. The cast also includes Clayne Crawford (Lethal Weapon TV series), Max Martini (Pacific Rim), Jimmy Skingbola (Arrow), and the great Bruce Greenwood (Wildlike). Besides that cast, the film features an original score from Junkie XL, composer behind Mad Max: Fury Road and Deadpool. He also worked on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with Hans Zimmer. Junkie XL has been composing some exciting, adrenaline-pumping music as of late, but it’s unclear what to expect from his score for Spectral, since, again, we’ve seen hardly anything from the delayed film. |

Netflix doesn't show its movies or shows in 3-D (any movie they have that was originally in 3-D will be flat).
Anyway, the film premieres on December 9th and is apparently not very good (according to test screenings Universal held last year). But seeing how it's on Netflix, expect people to overrate it like most other things on there (**cough**Stranger Things**cough**). |

Stranger Things is Twin Peaks for people who won't shut up about how great the 80's were. And the kids are annoying (not to mention totally lifted from Super 8).
The fact that Netflix already has the first two seasons of Twin Peaks makes the whole concept of Stranger Things redundant. Put it on a network and it would be nothing more than another Wayward Pines. |

I don't think so. The Amanda Knox documentary and other Netflix original movies have been here in the "Movies" thread, just as the Netflix original series like Daredevil and Stranger Things have been in the "TV Shows" thread. Why would we want to separate Netflix content? Should Westworld be in an HBO thread?

I watched this today. I found it very enjoyable. It's not the best movie but it's not the worst. It felt more like seeing an old friend in a new suit; in that it plays and feels like a movie from the 80s. The fx are impressive and while the story could have been better. I felt like I was watching what Battle Los Angeles should have been like but without aliens. The story stayed active and worked well in establishing itself and its world. I thought about a full review for my site but I held off so others could try it first. Just sit back with a beer and a snack. Enjoy it!

Technically competent, but pretty much a bore to watch.... Unless you're a hardcore Call of Duty fan which I'm not. Actors who trained in boot camp for a month in "tactical" gear walking around very "tactically" with their "tactical" weaponry doing very cliche military things in an overall very cliche movie about an enemy they can't see doesn't interest me in the slightest. Didn't even get mildly entertaining until the last act which by then it's too late. Replay value out the window. Waste of a good cast.... That guy from the Lethal Weapon tv show woulda made a better Kyle Reese in Genisys...

I thought this was pretty good. Not great by any stretch, but I've spent 90 minutes watching much worse.
The VFX were great and not overblown. I actually felt like I was watching a promo-movie for a new video game. It's downside is one-dimensional characters (all of them). |
