Default Which Blade Runner blu-ray set should I buy?

Hi All,

I'd like to own Blade Runner on blu-ray but which set should I get? There seem to be so many versions internationally (including a new version coming out next month in the UK) and I'm wondering which is my best bet?

Should I be searching out the 5 disc set from 2007? Or have more recent editions improved on that? I can see that that version was on bd25 discs and the documentary in SD. Have either of those things improved with more recent editions?

Thanks.

I'm assuming you're in the UK, so I'll try to break it down.

There was a re-release with all the content on 3 discs, it's this. OOP, so kind of expensive. The US equivalent is even more expensive. If you want the version with the most content, it's the UHD. It has all the special features and all the different cuts.

There was a recent Japanese release which added the Atmos mix to the original transfer, but it's out of stock, so it may be harder to find.

Bottom line: UHD. I hate how there's too many releases of Blade Runner... it confuses the consumer and does no good...

Say wut!?

Anyway, pick up the 4-disc UHD/BD set released in the UK. It's got everything you need.

EDIT: You were right!

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

It really depends on your set-up and what you want to get out of Blade Runner. If you're 4K ready or intend to be the UHD releases will be your best bet. If you're not interested in 4K but want the best Blade Runner experience depending on price the UHD may still be your best bet.

The Dangerous Days documentary actually gets worse on Blu-ray, but the Workprint with newer versions has superior audio.

Sometimes the Collectors BD pops up on Amazon France from time to time, but you may have to wait.

Also pick up Paul Sammon's Future Noir book to complete the set.

Just to make things more confusing, there's a 4-disc UHD set with all the content you need and a 2-disc UHD set which is nothing more than the film itself on UHD and BD. Oh Warners, why do you do this to us?

Here's the range's first wave, I guess Blade Runner will be part of a new wave.

Warner Bros. love to knock out new O-Rings.
