is it worth upgrading the ps4 pro to an ssd? best buy has a 2tb version onsale for $499.99.

Depends on the game. They don’t function in consoles they way to do for a PC (i.e. everything is consistently fast) because they weren’t made with SSD’s in mind. Buy more games with the money.

Some games definitely load quicker but I wouldn't shell out the price of a console for one personally

Save a lot and get a monster (up to 8gb) external USB 3.0 drive to download and play from! I have a 5t Ex HD , alot of games installed. I sill have like 4.6tb available
