Default Do you think the Terminator series will ever reach T2 greatness again?

Terminator 2: Judgement Day is considered one of the greatest films ever. Practically every scene is a classic, including the bar scene, the Galleria mall scene, the truck and motorcycle chase, etc. The locations, action, soundtrack, actors, story line, etc, were all amazing. It is one of those rare epic films.

Few movies, if any, are better than Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

Do you think the series will ever reach T2 greatness again? Most people can agree that after T2, the series started getting worse. Do you think T2 will always be the best in the series? Or do you imagine a future Terminator film will be just as good, if not better? Do you think the series has had it?

I don’t think they will ever reach the greatness of the first two. Always happy to be proved wrong though.

No.

It's not just The Terminator. It's ALIENS, Die Hard, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Mad Max 2, Predator, Robocop, Total Recall, Lethal Weapon etc... the action/adventure film genre was perfected and peaked in the 80s with the exact right mix of actors, actresses, directors, writers, practical effects and stunts and cinematography and editing. These films will never be surpassed in their respective genre.

Fury Road is generally considered the equal or even the better movie by a lot of people, but your overall point stands and I agree with it.

T2 has never been the best in the series. For me T2 has always been a lot like Aliens. I like them both just fine and I totally get why people love them but neither holds a candle to the first entry in their series.

That said, do I think a better Terminator movie is in our future? Never say never but signs point to no.

For me one big thing also is nowdays im not really impressed with cgi anymore, but im always super impressed to see T2 effects and other older films that wasnt full cg.

I can look at any marvel films that go bigger and bigger galaxy size fights and still any fight or action scene from T2 is way cooler for me

If we get next terminator film, im hoping that its with much better director that understands the terminator and wisely sized budget and that they dont try to go easier cgi'er route

Let's take a look.

There was:
- Terminator 3
- Terminator 4 (Salvation)
- Terminator 5 (Dark Fate)

And, not to forget the TV Series - Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

My answer, no. Terminator 2 was perfection. It was even better than the first film and no matter how many Terminator movies they keep making they'll never be as good or better than T2 was.

I'm not even a hardcore fan, but someone who loved it.

Correct answer: Never say never, anything can happen.

Real answer: No chance in hell.

No.

I don't think the franchise will even exist anymore - in the form of new movies - for quite a while.

I agree, but don’t think any future film will be as good as T2 either. Frankly, I feel it will be quite a while before we see another big screen film anyway, there is the video game supposed to be coming at the start of next year, and a streaming series is probably where the franchise could continue at least for now.

Terminator is a much better film than Terminator 2. Terminator 2 is a worthy sequel, though, just not as intense.
