Oscar-nominated actress Toni Collette is set to mark her feature directorial debut with an adaptation of New York Times bestselling novel, Writers And Lovers by Lily King. The project is set up at Topic Studios with Collette producing under her Vocab Films label. She’s also adapting the screenplay with Nick Payne (The Crown).

Released in 2020, Writers and Lovers was a Today Show “Read with Jenna” Book Club Pick, a New York Times Book Review Group Text Selection, and Book of the Month Club selection. The story follows Casey Peabody, an underemployed, aspiring novelist in 1990’s Boston whose world is rocked by a recent love affair and her mother’s sudden death.
