Question Compatibility - Onkyo / Sony / Panasonic

I am a newbie and in the process of building up my HT. So far, I have a Sony 52" XBR4 LCD, a Panasonic DMP-BD30K Blu-Ray player, and a cable HD set top box. The two sources are direct wired (HDMI) into the Sony. Everything work and looks fine. I am now ready to add a receiver. I have my eye on the Onkyo 605. Any comments on how this receiver will marry up with my other components? In concern, is the decoding of the audio bitstream (via HDMI) from the Panasonic. Also, any thoughts on a set of speakers to finish off this package? I was looking at Polks.

Thanks - Tony

^I agree. Polks are good speakers, I prefer Klipsch, but I don't know what's in or out of your budget, although from the looks of your other equipment, you could get a nice set of Klipsch speakers.
