Default Is the Xbox One a region-free Blu-ray player?

Hi, I am just wondering if the Xbox One (standard edition) is a region free Blu-ray player. I have no region locked titles to test the region compatibility so any help would be appreciated.

No. Releasing officially licensed Blu-ray players with no region protection is not allowed.

Actually, it's not even possible. Blu-ray has no region zero, like the DVD format. "Region free" Blu-ray players have region switching features. The Xbox One is not allowed to have that, of course, per the above.

Blu-ray does have a region zero. It's the number region free is set to.

No, as I explained, it does not have a region zero, and thus "region free" Blu-ray players aren't technically REGION FREE.

Blu-ray unlike DVD consists of three regions, A, B and C. What you describe as region free are discs that are set to regions A, B and C. When discs are flagged A, B and C they're termed to be "region free", but they're actually all regions' discs.

Region 0 or Zero isn't a region on DVD, it's a term to describe an un-flagged disc. True all region discs are flagged All or region 9 if I recall, so they're playable anywhere.

And no, the Xbox are locked to their territory like the players.

The Blu-ray Player on Xbox One X allows you to enjoy Blu-ray movies available in your region. Each Xbox One console is manufactured for a specific Blu-ray region, following international standards. The Xbox One console can play Blu-ray discs that are sold in the same region as the console.

Tips: Some Blu-ray discs are not region-encoded or are coded to all regions. Region-free Blu-ray discs will play on any Xbox console. Game discs for the Xbox One X are not coded to regions.

I asked a modder who sells chips for a ton of players and he said it's too difficult to region mod consoles to make it worthwhile.
