![]() ![]() Keanu Reeves (The Dream), Jim Carrey (The Hermit), Jason Momoa (Miami Man), Suki Waterhouse (Arlen) and Diego Luna (Jimmy) team up for what seems to be a dystopian love story in a Texas wasteland and set in a community of cannibals. This will be the first Hollywood movie for A Girls Walks Alone Home at Night director Ana Lily Amirpour. Shooting starts this April, release date 2016. Sounds like a crazy combination, huh? After watching the trailer for A Girl Walks ... I'm intrueged by this project. Since I've seen Carrey playing in 'Lemony Snicket' and 'Kick-Ass 2', I've always wanted to see him do a Tarantino-movie. Maybe this is as close as it gets. And I want to see the end result right now. ![]() |

Ow ... That, all over again?
About someone who pumps millions in so many good causes, I can't take that comment seriously anymore. Maybe he took the money, maybe he didn't. Maybe he used it for one of the many charities he has a part in. Maybe he didn't. But we don't know, do we? He felt a change of heart when he saw bigger parts of Kick-Ass 2 and felt some of the violence in that specific theatrical movie was simply too gratuit. And yeah, he knew in advance it was going to be like that. Well, kinda, I loved the comic but hated the theatrical sequel for the most part. Every single one of us has a moment where he regrets a decision she or he was fine with just before. Get over it. That's that. Back on-topic? Last edited by estebanē; 03-21-2015 at 05:57 PM. |

What are you his press agent? He took money from someone and then bad mouthed it. It doesn't matter what he did with the money. He should have gave it back to the film if he had such a problem with it. And it is on topic because he is in another, more than likely, violent movie. If he condemned one it is safe to assume to possibility of him doing it again is plausible. Id like to see the film succeed but call in to question whether Carrey will torpedo it like Kick Ass 2.

He distanced himself from the movie. Nothing more, nothing less. That's all we know. It's not the first time someone does that, it won't be the last. He might have taken the money for his work in Kick-Ass 2. Paid for what he did, sounds normal. It's safe to assume -yup- the money for promoting the movie afterwards didn't came to him, since that's the part where he choose not to support the movie. So, in a way that sounds only fair to me. He didn't hurt Kick-Ass 2, at worst people got more interested in the final result because of it. At least he was honest about it. For example Mark Wahlberg called 'The Happening' a bad movie while promoting one of his later flicks. He, as many, smiled through promotion ... because he was doing his job. He lied. And got paid for it. I don't call him a dbag for that, but it makes me wonder what's "worse".
And about him doing it again with this movie? Unlikely. Do I know for sure? No. Am I his press agent? My wallet doubts that. I'm just tired of people bringing it up and calling him a dbag based on ... what, actually? And I would look at it that way no matter who it's about. ![]() ![]() Ana Lily Amirpour is both the writer and director of this high expected movie. She described the movie last year as "Road Warrior meets Pretty in Pink with a dope soundtrack." She also said "It's going to be really weird and romantic and also very violent," kind of like "if El Topo and Dirty Dancing had a baby." |

![]() Quote:
I can't see how the level of violence was any surprise to Carrey as it was all in the script, the first film, and all of the comics...and here he is with another "very violent" film. The ironic part was the whole Carrey thing probably did more to promote Kick-Ass 2 than if he actually went out there to promote the movie. ![]() Back to the film at hand...I haven't seen her first film, but I watched a series of interviews with Amirpour by Vice. She was a little too hipster cool for my tastes, but I'll check it out when it hits Netflix net month. Last edited by CHEЯNOБLY!; 03-24-2015 at 01:44 AM. |

Well, I saw A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night and I'm no longer interested in this. I found very little to enjoy about it. It had a very thin story and more style than substance.

![]() The Bad Batch is in the competition for the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival by the end of August. That's where the previous movie A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night got all the praise ... I hope we get a trailer soon. ![]() |

Ow, about the story ... It seems to be about a communion of cannibals where they have one rule : Don't ... Uh ... "play" with your food. These two lovebirds didn't listen ...
![]() And I found out some nasty story-details, but I guess it contains major spoilers ... At your own risk : [Show spoiler] I did not want to know that yet, but maybe it will be in the trailer? We'll see.

So, the world premiere took place today at the Venice Film Festival. At last ... Some clips !
![]() And the first reviews came out. Critics and 'regular' folks. I'm not gonna post all the links, but it's already clear reactions for the follow up for "A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night" are very mixed. Scores going from 1 out of 5 ("This movie screamed : Look at me, I want to be hip!") to 4.5 out of 5 ("The greatest movie I've seen this year!") Both positive and negative reviews pointing out how many scenes are way too long and feel kinda pointless. It seems to be a case of style over substance very often. On the other hand there's praise for the many scenes that do work, bringing original ideas and pure visual joy, supported with a great soundtrack. A remark I often saw, is the fact the Giovanni Ribisi and -above all- Diego Luna cameo's are easily forgotten. For example, Diego is only there in the background. On the other hand, according to different reviews, an unrecognizable Jim Carrey steals the show despite the fact he has no lines at all, since he's mute ... And only is there for a short time. Also, it's not Jason or Suki that are called the surprise of the movie, but Keanu Reeves, since he seems to be cast against type and is memorable. I'm still curious. ![]() Last edited by estebanē; 09-07-2016 at 01:42 AM. |
