Because we all though the original sucked enough that we begged for a remake.

And will the extended edition be available in 3D or only 2D? I hate when they make you choose theatrical 3D or extended 2D like World War Z.

No amount of extended scenes can improve this poor film.

The poster says it KNOWS what scares us.....but nothing in this film actually SCARED us. They lied.

Eh, it wasn't that bad. Just kinda unnecessary (though I liked the internet paranormal investigator spin they put on it).

Will get it since I have the original trilogy. Now where's the blu-ray of "Poltergeist: The Legacy"?

This was a terrible terrible movie. One of the worst horror movies I have ever seen. I'm not a huge fan of the original or the sequels but they are masterpieces compared to this.

The acting, the story, the effects...were...just...terrible. Laughable even

I wished but they haven't even released S3 & 4 on DVD yet. S2 was an Amazon exclusive instead of a wide release like S1 was. Also they were fullscreen instead of wide since they should have been like with SG1 since they were both Showtime series.

So, was this film just plain bad or is everyone just thinking it was shit compared to the great original? Not sure why but I kind of wanted to see this one.

If this were a stand alone film, not being a reboot, I still think it would have been bad, because everything seemed so rushed and they didn't take enough time to develop the characters or give us time to actually start caring for them.

With the Freelng family, we saw a comical neighborhood football party and duel with the neighbor's remote control, we saw poor Carol Ann's bird pass away and the backyard burial, we saw a normal family react to a frighting storm in the middle of the night and the parents sneaking a toke in the bedroom. I felt like we got a chance to KNOW and care about the Freeling family before the supernatural things begun in the house.

With this new one....the director and writer seemed to skip character development and go straight for the scares. That makes it seem a bit cheap and generic to me. Never once was I scared.

The effects might have been a tad better in this one, but none of it felt real enough to me like it did in the original. It felt too fake, too much CGI.

The original didn't clue us in on the graveyard under the neighborhood houses till the very end, so we didn't know what was causing the Poltergeists , but in this one, that information was given to us right at the start of the film....so now we EXPECT ghosts and knowing where it came from took out some of the suspense for me. It was almost like hitting you over the head and saying...HEY....THE GHOSTS ARE COMING....GET READY!

I saw so many flaws with this reboot, that I decided to ignore it and stick with the original instead.

I'll watch it at some point, because I love the original (still have to get that one). Although, I have extremely low expectations... heard nothing but negativity.

Sam Rockwell though.

Damn. I was hoping it would at least be decent especially since Kenan did Monster House, which I thought was a great little family horror flick. I'll probably still at least give it a rental. Maybe, my low expectations will help a bit. Do love some Rockwell, as well.

I didn't rush to the theater, as I knew this wouldn't be a gem, but I'll most likely pick it up Day One. I love the original Poltergeist films, so I think I'll enjoy it enough.

It really wasn't that good at all. And yeah, you can't help but compare it here and there as they did a lot that was like the first such as the clown, the tree, the disfigured face, the graveyard and much more.

As a whole though, the movie just felt so void of emotion and subpar acting as a whole given who was involved.

Harsh mini-reviews here.
How would ya'll rank it against The Fog remake for worst, most senseless redo ever?

No matter what, it's got library check-out written all over it. Not sure I'd waste a free Redbox code on this after reading this thread.

Still think it's funny that the original made more money in 1982 with ticket prices at 3 bucks or whatever they were.
