Great list! I'll have to go through my collection and see if there are any titles I can add to your already impressive listing. I pretty much buy anything Scream/Shout factory releases. They do an amazing job in picture/audio quality as well as some great documentaries.

The Shout release of "The Thing" is too artificial sharpened and has a drastically different color from every prior home video release to be considered in the "Best Picture quality". Also "Halloween" was released in 1978, so it doesn't belong in "classic".

Slightly off-topic, but I can't find a digital purchase for Damien: Omen II. Vudu, MoviesAnywhere, and iTunes have The Omen, Omen III: The Final Conflict, and even Omen IV: The Awakening (of all things), but not Damien. I loaned my Omen films on DVD to my nephew ("Danger! Danger, Will Robinson!") and he somehow managed to lose the middle chapter. Damien Omen II is garbage, but it's the first horror film I ever saw on HBO, and the first Omen film I ever saw, so despite the fact it's not exactly a good film, it's a guilty nostalgic pleasure. Was looking for it to add to my streaming collection, and it's MIA.
Guess I'll have to pick it up on Blu...or wait for a 4k release down the road. |

We don't need to really get into this as The Thing thread is full of pages and pages of debate and bickering. Shouts is definitely a little too sharpened (has haloing) and the color timing is pushed very very blue. Arrows release (region B) has better color timing, also surpervised by Dean Cundy and Mr. Carpenter as well but it's a little soft for some people. If we are talking region A then yes Scream Factorys release is the best available, if we are talking world wide then it's up to your preferences as they both are very good but different from each other. I personally own both, SF has a ridiculous amount of special features and I prefer Arrows transfer. Region Free is the way to be!
