I've heard one claim that this won't effect the war anymore than Paramount's going to HD-DVD. They went on to say that with the new 360 having an HD-DVD drive (yeah right) MS is going to bribe Fox to come to HD-DVD.

lol i saw this posted on the hd forum and its funny.
![]() HD DVD can still win this Hi Def Format War with a BANG – Here’s How. - Triple Layer 51GB Movies to come out ASAP... - Triple Layer Twin (HD DVD/DVD) ONLY without releasing a separate SD DVD. ASAP... - Universal, Paramount & DreamWorks really need to tap into their “Extensive Movie Library”. ASAP... - Do you want Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, BraveHeart, The Mummy III, Hellboy 2, DEATH RACE, Wanted, DOOMSDAY etc. In Hi Definition, you will need a HD DVD player. - The DVD Forum needs to start picking up the pace and push HD DVD as the Next Gen Format to succeed SD DVD. Anymore thoughts? Warner will continue to be released in HD DVD until the end of May 2008. This is extra Insurance for Warner just in case HD DVD makes a Break & starts selling like MAD. IMO. So they are Neutral for 5 more months. |

after arguing with people fudding about HD-DVD I'm glad this happened for 2 reasons, 1. they were unjustifyably proud of thier format the specs, sales, and inustry support didn't give adequate reason to believe thier format was going to win anytime soon. and 2. it'll bring the war to an end alot faster...

The five stages of coping with loss or grief:
Denial Denial is generally the first stage in the grief process. It can be experienced as numbness or avoidance or isolation or direct denial. It is a stage in which we just cannot believe that the loss is true. We may tell ourselves that it did not really happen. It does not seem real. Anger Another stage of grief is anger. At this point, we have gotten past some or all of the denial, but now we are angry about the loss. We may want to take it out on something or someone, or we may just express our anger in ways that are familiar to us. Bargaining In the bargaining stage, we are trying to come up with ways to get back what we lost or just find someone or something to blame. Common thoughts include "If only I had just …." or "I wish we could have…." or "Maybe if I do this…." In the case of a lost relationship, we might actually bargain with the person we lost in an effort to get them back. "If I change my behavior, will you come back?" Depression The depression stage is just as it sounds, a time of sadness. It generally follows denial, anger, and bargaining when we feel helpless and hopeless to stop the loss. It may include crying, withdrawal, or any other way that expresses sadness. Acceptance The final stage is acceptance. Most often we have gone through all of the above stages and in many cases cycled through the above stages more than once before getting to acceptance. At this stage, we have (to some extent) reorganized ourselves and our thinking to incorporate the loss. This does not mean that we no longer get sad about the loss from time to time, but the sadness is now a part of us and does not keep us from functioning normally most of the time. Over time, the intensity of the sadness generally diminishes, but may never entirely go away. ![]() |

So, do you really think that Warner HD DVDs will outsell BDs ever now? Why would any format neutral people keep buying the HD DVD version? How many HD DVD collections are going to go up on ebay tonight? I think I will probably sell the three that I bought a year ago. I am sure I won't get much money for them now. Bummer...

It's hard - really, really hard - not to be a poor sport over this, especially after the Paramount fiasco back in August, and how the red pom-poms got waved ever so energetically.

My point is that the common person who buys things have no idea what the technical specs of a product are. They have an HDTV and decide to buy some High Def movies, they could care less about the details, they just want the movie. When this format war is all done and we are left with one format (Blu) people are just going to buy a movie and not care about the specs. I know people on this forum care and know these things, but the vast majority of the population doesn't and they never will. |

It is a bitter sweet win for blu. I am celebrating like everyone else and yes, the fan boys have given BD a very hard time. This is all about to end now. The HD DVD camp will dissolve and new adaptors to blu-ray will out number them quickly. HD DVD fans will also be buying blu-ray players now and enjoying top quality HD movies as we have. This truly is OUR day, but lets invite the X HD DVD fans here with as much civility as humanly possible. I know they are hurting today and the last threads of spin will be spun, but this is the end of HD DVD. Lets show some class to our new members.

They are saying that Warner won't matter. They are saying HD-DVD will still hang on. They are saying that the ground is the sky and the sun is the moon! They are basically deluding themselves in thinking there is ANY chance of winning, but they are still talking about winning <sigh!> Until toshiba offically says "its dead", we are gonna still have a lot of idiots hanging on to false hope.
