Default MIDNIGHT LEGACY enters Blu-ray market with debut release ALIEN 2 ON EARTH!

MIDNIGHT LEGACY

http://www.midnight-legacy.com

For our inaugural release, Midnight Legacy is proud to present the first-ever, high definition, widescreen release of Alien 2 On Earth. The definitive version, transferred from the original 35mm negative, which runs longer than any other version seen throughout the world. The presentation that finally represents the intended vision of Alien 2 On Earth.

ALIEN 2 On Earth full spec list:
=======================

*Brand new 1.85:1 high definition transfer from the original 35mm negative featuring significant additional footage not seen anywhere in the world.

*Ultra high bitrate AVC encode @36 MBS, faithfully representing our 2k scan and preserving the integrity and look of film.

*English DTS MA 2.0, fully restored from the original audio masters, and respectful of the original sound design.

*Special features include the only surviving trailer from the mega rare Dutch VHS, and effects outtakes transferred directly from the negative B-roll in full HD.

*30,000 piece, Limited Edition single pressing run designed as a true collector's item for the serious collector. Once sold through, this title will never be available again.

*Region Free

========================

We think that going the extra mile should be mandatory, not optional.

We insist that all films are treated with the care and respect they deserve.

We hope to raise the bar, creating a new standard all genre films should be measured against.

We simply hope to continue to serve the fans and collectors with many more titles, for many years to come.

We believe that by demanding and adhering to the rigorous standards above, we can proudly deliver genre films the way they were meant to be seen, and in a way that exceeds customer expectations. We look forward to continuing to serve the serious collector as we have done for nearly 23 years, and remaining the most trusted source in the industry because we know these films, understand these films, and acknowledge the effort that was put forth during the creation of these films.

Respecting the filmmaker's original intentions, preserving the legacy these films have created.

Awesome! Wonder why they use a red case though? I'm not sure this ever got a proper DVD release, so a Blu-ray is great. It might be terrible though, but I do collect Italian horror.

We chose a red case as it better fits with our design and color scheme. As far as the transfer and encode, this looks fantastic. All our releases will be completed correctly. There will be no corner cutting.

Please let me know if there are any more questions, and much thanks for all the support.

We are currently looking at a mid November release, and will keep everyone posted as to pinning that down.

Thanks.

The Cinema Snob reviewed this title a few months back. It's a hilarious review. Keep in mind, his source is from those poor old public domain copies.

You just opened up a sh!t storm though. First the color resembles HDDVD...secondly there are many people who feel that all blurays need to have blue cases...

I'm not one of them, but you will hear that gripe, just be ready for it.

I've never seen this film, but it looks like something I'd like. Most reviews of the film I've seen have been something like 2/5, but with new footage and a new transfer...it has me intrigued none the less.

I don't mind the case color myself. In Europe and Japan, they've used different color cases like red, pink, black, and orange. I know here in the U.S, they've used green on The Incredible Hulk, Whip It, and I believe Hulk Vs got a green case too.

If anyone is going to bit** about the color of the case, keep this in mind, IT'S BEEN ALMOST THREE YEARS! THREE F**KING YEARS THAT HD-DVD DIED OUT! WE WON, GET OVER IT!

So, is this supposed to be bad like people say Troll 2 is bad (i.e. so bad it's good), or is it just bad bad like Manos: In the Hands of Fate is supposed to be?

McCrutchy, I would say both. The Cinema Snob has stated that even though his reviews are meant to bash films, he enjoys exploitation films. Given how Zombi 2 is an unofficial Italian sequel to Dawn of the Dead which is called Zombi in Italy. This is like that with Ridley Scott's Alien. One of the releases of the film was retitled to Alien Terror so it wouldn't get into any kind of trouble with FOX at the time.

When the Cinema Snob did his review, the video quality was poor as hell. He couldn't tell what was going on in a lot of the scenes and when he showed the clips during his review it is pretty damn dark. It showed a scene where the supposed creature
[Show spoiler]bursts through a guy's face
and you couldn't see it at all. You could tell what was happening, but you couldn't distinctly tell what it was.

All I have seen of the film is what the Cinema Snob has shown. Before Midnight Legacy announced the Blu-ray, the only way you could obtain this film was through a bootleg DVD-R sourced copy of the film that is a cropped Pan & Scan version of the film from a PAL formatted VHS copy which is called Alien Terror. The only reason why I never bought this one was because I felt $10 for a bootleg is ridiculous.

I will be coughing up dough for this one. I love the obscure and foreign films. If you check my collection on here, I've got stuff from Japan (Gojira) and Thailand (Ong-Bak and Ong-Bak 2). Seeing that this is getting a Blu-ray, it's a must own for me. If Midnight Legacy gets Zombi 2, Manos: Hands of Fate, Lamberto Bava's Demons, Burial Grounds: The Nights of Terror, or any other older foreign flicks; I will be a happy camper.

I'd have no problems with the red cover, I'd just change it out for the blue ones. I have a few hundred spare cases handy!

Also, thanks for providing the original mix (no surround remix) in lossless. I hope there will be more cult-titles released, and I will blind-buy all of them. Will it be available through regular channels?

I'd be interested in buying a couple for Daredevil and Elektra.

I am definitely going to be picking this up. Blu-ray is really shaping up to be a great format for cult film lovers. Keep 'em coming.

And thank you for appreciating our inisitance on providing only original sound mixes. You will never see any remixes of any of our titles, and to answer your second question, you will see a "ton" of titles from us starting early 2011.

Finally, at this point only Amazon will be carrying this, but between now and the release, we expect that to change.

Thanks again for all the kind words, and wait until you see the next "batch" of titles announced.
