Hi guys and gals
Been doing a bit of reading on the internet and all the solutions people have been trying out over the years to beat the slow download speeds PSN gives you including DNS changes, pausing and restarting downloads etc. but the best and only solution to fix slow downloads is apparently to set up a proxy network and have the PS4 connect to that when downloading. https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comment..._have/d7h1edx/ There's also a 2017 link in Google to a Forbes article too which explains the process a little bit easier but the above thread kind of goes into more details as to why PSN download speeds are so hampered. I'm due to get 200 mbp/s from Virgin Media fibre installed at some point soon but wanted to know if any of you guys with 100 mbp/s and greater connections might also be able to corroborate increased download speeds with this method. NB - If you planned to play online and download updates, games etc. then using the proxy isn't a real possibility because of what the proxy does. It's something you switch to get something downloaded ASAP and then back to normal settings. |
