Cheaper to import it from the US.

Will wait to see if US box set is region free and then maybe not order it until 2012 and get the cheapest set at that time either UK or US.

Someone who got the US set a few days ago has confirmed it works on their Region B player.

Very doubtful it will appear anytime soon because like many other shows from the 90s it was edited on video tape so the first 6 or 7 seasons would need to be re-edited from scratch and have all new CGI created, a very costly task.

Perhaps if Atlantis sells well they might do it so get ordering

I wouldn't hold your breath if I were you.

SG-1 didn't get filmed in an "easily convertable to HD" format until it's 8th season.

Seasons 1-7 would effectively have to be completely be redone to look good on blu-ray.

I read it too but I would like a little more confirmation. If it really is I will buy the US version in a heartbeat

Good news but it's way to expensive, I think I'll keep an eye out for the price to drop on the US set (if it's confirmed region free) or wait two years for this to become cheap.

I wonder if the seasons will be in separate cases?

I also get the impression ZAVVI is more expensive than amazon in regard with boxsets so perhaps the UK version is cheaper with amazon.co.uk.

You have some major patience there, I am getting annoyed might copied hasn't arrived yet let alone wait 2 years lol

As for the separate case question I am sure the UK set will be identical to the US set so expect 3 cases, one for seasons 1 & 2, one for seasons 3 & 4 and the last one for season 5.

It's my new found virtue. I'm even thinking about giving the Star Wars a miss until it hits £30 for the Saga. I think if the Atlantis set was a bit cheaper say sixty pounds then I might go for it over Star Wars. I think it will be a long wait but I risk the set going OOP.

I think you're probably right on the boxset design but I think we may see a Digistack. The Dad's Army DVD set was 14 discs so an extra 6 wouldn't be much more.

Only the look of the boxset will make me buy the UK one.

That looks a lot wider than the US set, a Digistack or separate cases I guess. I think I'll wait and see how cheap the US set gets. Great news though.

It's 119.99 on Amazon.co.uk pre-order.

Edit: The case looks about the same width with closer inspection.
