Unhappy Xbox One X Issues

Hey guys! I bought an Xbox One X last Black Friday for games and 4k Blu-rays. I bought a 4k TV recently and wanted to try it out. However, it doesn't seem to even acknowledge I put in BD-100 discs. It can read smaller discs like Puss in Boots 4K, but not Interstellar 4K or Blade Runner 4K. I think this is a known issue.

Has anyone found a workaround for this? Xbox Support was very unhelpful. Thanks!

The Xbox One X was known to have issues with BD disks that have a 3rd layer, there are some fixes floating around, but some people report that it does not help, and it's just luck if the disks read or not.

I would suggest getting a standalone player since it will have better compatibility with 100gb disks.

There is no workaround -- you need to purchase a proper 4K/UHD player. The Xbox is simply a poor playback machine that cannot handle a lot of discs.

Blade Runner is a BD-66, and if the drive is not working, you can probably get Microsoft to replace it, since this drive was carried over to the Xbox Series X.

All Xbox models with disc drives since the Xbox One S are the same when it comes to Ultra HD Blu-ray playback. Also, some discs (such as a lot of Sony ones) still trigger the internet connectivity even if they do not actually have any BD-Live features on them (my Panasonic shows "Network connection started" whenever I insert one of these discs.)
