Lovely design, but (currently at least) insane price (£64.99 as I type).

I have been buying the standard series sets, but only when they go below £20.

Wow, this is expensive. But I have to have it, such a beautiful design.

I wonder if this one will be as limited as series nine.

Ouch. I pre-ordered but I don't know if I'll be able to bring myself to keep that. That would make this more expensive than any steel I've ever bought.

I'm more annoyed at this being released without Twice Upon a Time on it. They could have waited until after Xmas and have it included.

They do the Xmas specials as a separate release. To make more money

No Season 9 had Last Xmas and The Wedding of River Song on so there's no reason why they couldn't have done the same thing this time.

Nope.

Disgustingly expensive, even for Doctor Who. And besides, I smell a Series 1-10 (+ specials) box set on the horizon.

I was wondering about this. Hasn't shown up on any other retail sites as of yet though.

Series 9 and Series 1 were exclusives, but Series 2 wasn't, so who knows.

This is a release aimed at the Christmas market.

As i said above, Season 9 had the Xmas specials on it so that argument doesn't wash.

I would buy this immediately...once the price matches the previous new Who steelbooks that have been released. It'd be an expected price back in 2007 but it's way too much money for the series nowadays.

Back in 2008 when the series hadn't been popularized in the US yet, and I didn't know much about pricing, I bought the standard US S4 DVD box set at release for about $86. It didn't get much cheaper than that until after DW became popularized. There is no reason today that they should be charging more than $50 for this SB, especially since the other 3 were sold at $30-40.

But that didn't come out till the March because the show itsself didn't finish till the December of 2015. They couldn't have released the complete series that early anyway. Moot point.

You're not comparing like for like - they didn't hold Series 7's complete series back to include Matt's two specials, did they? No. That's the most apt comparison.

Nonsense - they're going to charge more for a new series release than a re-release like the Eccleston and Tennant steels. Just as a new movie will cost more than a catalogue re-release. Simple economics.

Nonsense - I bought the series 9 steelbook for under $40 at release direct from Amazon.

My view on the whole missing Twice Upon a Time thing is this:

Yes, it is annoying, and I would much rather they waited until after Christmas to included it.

However, Christmas Specials are just that, "specials"; they are not technically a part of any series, despite some clearly having strong story ties to others (Time of the Doctor sort of being a part of the 50th, for example).

I see the Christmas Specials being included in "complete series" box-sets as an extra, A bonus. That's why, for example, the Series 9 set included both Christmas Specials, either side of the series. Bookends, just as a bonus.

However, in this case, it is different because Twice Upon a Time is the end of an era, two eras, Moffat and Capaldi, and is clearing a direct continuation from the Series 10 finale. It is the Series 10 finale, really.

Twice Upon a Time is different, I am sure it won't be included in the Series 11 set. That would be like including The End of Time in the Series 5 box set.

So because of this, in this case, in my eyes, this is The Incomplete Series 10 box-set,

Anyone know just how limited these SteelBooks are?
I'm guessing the Series 9 one was pretty low, seeing as it's virtually impossible to find online for purchase now (only one on Amaazon marketplace for like £170 at the moment)

Series 1 & 2 probably had, what, 2000? Maybe more. Spearhead from Space steelbook was limited to 2000, and that is still available; now less than a tenner.
