The Man Standing Next from director Woo Min-ho, who also made Inside Men and The Drug King, is coming to Korean blu-ray, courtesy of Injoingan! There will be a Fullslip and a Lenticular edition. Included in the package are 5 character cards, with print autographs on the reverse.
This is one of my favourite films this year, with absolutely electric performances from both the Lees, Byung-hun and Sung-min! PREORDER DATE: August 24th, 2020. RELEASE DATE: September 17th, 2020. ordered the full slip. surprised a USA release is out there, too. this is more expensive, but i trust the quality to be better.

Ordered the Lenti, from Kimchi. It looks like a pretty cool transition.
I ordered The Current War to go with, as usually I always order 2 titles together for shipping purposes. |

It's rare that I can't decide which edition to go for and this was one of those times, so I went with both. Leaning towards the lenticular at the moment, but we'll see. Thankfully I have a friend who's happy to take the one I eventually decide I don't want, so I'll likely not end up keeping both.
By the way, both the editions are now out of stock on Kimchi and Nova. Still available on YesAsia and I presume wdpung too, so if anyone's sleeping on it, best jump while it's still there.... Also, if you've seen this film and are interested in delving a bit deeper, I had the opportunity to interview director Woo Min-ho, where he talked about the book it is based on and the real-life incidents it depicts, as well as Lee Byung-hun's hair. You can read the whole thing here. |

seems to be selling fast. has been out of stock and restocked at kimchidvd. not seeing usual ebay seller with it yet. can’t see it at nova media.
on it third disc i’ve bought in last year. very much of mind to hope for better streaming or download range in the future, and will eventually sell off remaining discs i dont want to keep. have been buying a long time, but doesn’t feel like it suits me any more. |

Thanks very much for providing a link to that interview thisgenius.
![]() Well done! I stopped reading after the 1/4 point, as it seemed to be getting a bit into spoiler territory, so will read the remainder after viewing the film. ![]() |

Got around to watching this today and it’s very good. Lee Byung-hun is fantastic.
As for the story, it’s a bit odd. They seem to make the assassin a bit too much of a noble hero with his talk of revolution etc. The guy was the boss of a spy agency that tortured people and as for the revolution, well that resulted in military dictatorship. I can’t say I was rooting for him but the way he is portrayed makes me think that we are supposed to. No one knows but I’m probably in the camp that believes he was in competition with the Head of Security and was pissed that he was going to be let go and just snapped. I think it may be a movie you could watch twice to understand everything that is going on. Plus, the subtitles weren’t exactly perfect so that made it harder, especially when two of the main characters are named Park. |
