Hey,
I preordered my PS3 from EBGames the other day, I was #3. I keep seeing things about there's no guarentee or you probably won't walk away with a PS3 on launch day even with a preorder already put in? How does that make sense? I understand stores like Strawberries are taking preorders but do NOT guarentee a system on Launch day(because they probably wont get one). I also understand the release date for PS3 may change(doubtful). However, the stores were TOLD how many PS3's they will be given, and the stores ONLY gave out that many preorders. I have heard the rumors about EBGames or whoever selling the system they get on EBay, but that is NOT going to happen. Especially due to the reasons above. I can't see a store not getting the system's they were told. On top of that, I've known the girl I preordered from for 7 years, and she doesn't play bullshit games. So with all that aside, is there any other reason why I even POSSIBLY may not be getting my preorder on the day of the launch? Thanks. |

Just disclaimer and legalese that's being blown up for more FUD and misinformation fodder.
It's amazing how even something like this is being so overblown by the increasingly desperate MS and HD-DVD acolytes. And believe me, they're getting desperate. They know their 15 minutes is almost up. Look, it's real simple: Nothing in life is guaranteed 100 percent. Here's what that disclaimer means: The reason there can't be a 100 percent gurantee is because an act of God can happen. Bad weather can happen. Trucks can break down. All sorts of things like that. There's a slim chance in hell that Sony won't meet these allotments, but let's face it: These allotments are already so ridiculously low as is...I just can't believe they couldn't even meet that with everything that's on the line here. You're getting your system that day for sure. Don't worry about it. If you preordered and you're within the allotments, you're set. The store managers cut off the preorders as soon as the allotment number was met. The only way some fiasco could happen, and in this case the chances are very slim, is if Sony shortchanges stores on these allotments of 8 or whatever that they've been promised. Or if there's a lot of snow and roads get snowed out or other acts of God like that. ![]() I think Sony played it smart and safe here. By opening the preorders a mere 4-5 weeks before actual launch, I think they were able to issue very realistic numbers and allotments to the stores so that number of preorders could be made and done with confidence. People that went into these stores and were able to preorder are getting their systems. Last edited by JTK; 10-12-2006 at 01:59 PM. |

[happy dance]
I'm getting a PS3 on November 17th! [/happy dance] Really, I asked the store manager specifically your question and he said: "If we get the 16 units we were told that we would get, then everyone that orders a system today is 100% guaranteed a system. But, the numbers that we got from corporate are based on the numbers Sony provided to EB/GS as accurate. If Sony comes up short, then there is nothing at all EB/GS can do about it." So, everyone who preordered from EB/GS should 100% expect their order, but not blame the store if Sony comes up short. It would NOT be the first time Sony came up short. Yet, your preorder would still hold your place for a PS3. That is, if the first batch of 2 units shows up, and you don't get one, on Nov. 17th. Then, two weeks later, the next batch of 5 shows up, you will be able to get one of them. In a near worst case scenario: You may have to wait a few extra weeks. And that is really - REALLY - unlikely. |

Awesome. Thanks alot for the info. That's kind of what I thought. One of the PS3 forums I was reading has an entirely wrong article that misled me. Thanks guys.

This is what I was told when I Called GameStop back. They told me in no uncertain terms that I MIGHT NOT get a unit on the 17th. I elected to skip the pre-order then. The store I was heading to had 4 slots left too. But I figured that if my son didn't have such a expensive gift for christmas that a ton of his christmas would be gone.
