Bonus 3D Content (extra features, trailers, shorts etc)

I thought it would be cool to have a thread for any extra content on blu rays that is either:

A) presented in 3D, such as a 3D special feature. For example, The Maze Runner is a 2D movie but has a short animated 3D film on it called Ruin.

B) or about filming/ converting to 3D or a 3D specific making of. For example Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has a 3D special feature all about the 3D process on the 2D feature disc.

Frozen 3D has the Mickey short "Get a Horse!" in 3D.

Some pressings of "This is It" have the "Dome Film" segments in 3-D as an extra.

The US/Canada release of Mr. Peabody and Sherman 3D has a new Rocky and Bullwinkle short presented in 3D (it can also be accessed by inserting the 3D disc into a 2D BD player). It is only available on the 3D US/Canada release. Some members overseas have reported not being able to access it when using their own BD players (even when set to Region A).

WB did a series of 3D Looney Tunes a few years back. I was hoping they'd gather them together for a 3D Blu-ray release along with the 1950s 3D Looney Tune 'Lumber Jack-Rabbit'. But that never happened.

In the meantime a few of them have been released as extras. 'Fur of Flying' is on the Legend of the Guardians disc in 3D.

It's actually surprising how few 3D extras there have been. It's a sad state of affairs how many 3D discs are totally barebones. You're lucky if they even stick on a few trailers.

That Fur of Flying is good fun. is there one in 3D on the Yogi Bear Blu Ray too?

I don't remember a cartoon on Yogi Bear but it does have some extras in 3D.

Life of Pi has deleted scenes in 3D.

One Direction: This is Us has both the regular and extended cuts in 3D- usually when an extended cut is included it's only in 2D. (There's lots of 2D footage in this movie however- mostly just the concert footage is in 3D.)

Men in Black 3 has a very short segment about the 3D conversion. Jurassic Park has one too but I haven't watched that yet.

I've just checked and it has the Looney Tunes cartoon Rabid Rider on it. The 3D in the extras on Yogi Bear is absolutely stunning! Far stronger than the movie 3D.

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena has a fight sequence that was converted to 3D specially for the blu ray release.

I agree... very sad - especially since there must be a wealth of fascinating info available about the 3D-making process, native OR converted.

And is anyone else annoyed that commentaries are rarely included on 3D discs? How difficult could it be to tack on that extra track? Why can't I hear Peter Jackson's chatter over the 3D version of any of the "Hobbit" films?

Anyway, to add to the topic... the "Cars 2" 3D disc has the 5-minute "Air Mater" short, which has nice enough 3D; it makes me wish the feature film was full-screen instead of scope.

That turtles 3D feature was surprising, since it was in 3D and on the 2D disc.

Underworld Awakening had a special 3D animatics section on the disc. Good 10 plus minutes or so, though it's pretty much a rough sketch feature in stereo 3D.

3D trailers are pretty rare on 3D discs.

MIB 3 3D has a 3D short (2 minutes) explaining how the 3D process is done.

A good number of discs have 3D trailers on them. It IS annoying how many commentaries are only included on the 2D versions- Megamind and How to Train Your Dragon even have those JUST on the regular DVD included in the set!

Very good point. It's unfuriating when the audio commentary is on the 2D disc only. In watching Prometheus with the commentary and hearing Ridley Scott talk about the 3D process it's beggars belief that they have only included the track on the 2D disc. Morons!

Yes it seemed odd that the 3D extra feature was on the 2D disc but in 3D and not just on the 3D disc itself.

We definitely need more 3D trailers. Fox are the only ones who seem to be good at including them.
