Default Whip It is in a green case. Other colors? Questions....

I see that Whip It is in a green case. Hulk also was. My question is, can any company come along and make a Blu-ray in a green case? Or do they need special permission? Does the Blu-ray spec not have requirements on case color?

Also, are there any other Blu-ray movies out there with known color differences other than green?

The animated Green Lantern: First Flight also came in a green case.

Some Japanese releases, including Freedom, which was an international release, have black cases.

Add the movie version of How The Grinch Stole Christmas from Universal to the list.

What do you think the BDA is? A fascist police service controlling every detail of product release?

1) BD cases are the same as the old HD-DVD cases, except for color. The BDA does not own the rights to the cases.

2) BD's have been released in many types of packaging.

3) The BDA only specifies the format of content ON THE DISK

4) The BDA is a standards and marketing organization, not a movie studio cartel.

Thumbs down ugh..

I'd rather have all by Blu-rays in Blu(e) cases - matching. If that means avoiding a good movie just because it's in a different color case, than so be it.

If I were into multi-colored cases i'd TOTALLY use HDdvd cases for some of my BD movies, like 28 Days/Weeks Later!! All it takes is a little work and the HD emblem will wipe off the front.

I saw some French Blu-rays that were being put in red Blu-ray cases. I personally think that red shouldn't be used because of HD-DVD.

Red Cases are for HD-DVD. They shouldnt even be associated with BD's.

that's incorrect. Red is a color. And can be associated with anything..

I'm well aware that red is a colour what I'm saying is that if you start using red with BD you will confuse people about what format is on offer.

How? Everyone knows HDdvd is dead. Im sure the people that still call Blu-ray a DVD might get confused... but if you sell it brand new in the store, in a red case, and a BR logo people will be fine.
