Efficientgaming.EU was just updated with changes in Console definitions and multiple Media power caps to reflect the following, prior to this change it just had a Tier 4 listing @ 70 watts;
Any AMD GPU from Vega and later has Infinity Fabric and can support UHD Blu-ray security levels using the GPU so I expect 2018 PS4s will have UHD Blu-ray support and possibly digital bridge support as well. Sony has a UHD Blu-ray BDA license for PCs and as we know Sony PS4s are fixed hardware (Console/Embedded) PC hardware designs. Quote:
Tier 4 now has a UHD Media Console Power Cap of 60 watts Tier 4 now has a UHD Gaming console with a power cap of 70 watts for HD media and 110 watts for 4K media. The Tier 4 power cap is Sony calculating power use based on the Console's chipset Sony is releasing in 2018 and published to efficientgaming.eu as a Voluntary effort to comply with best efforts to reduce the power used by the console(s). In the past they have been 100% accurate and can be used to predict a coming console release date and relative performance. This confirms there are two separate definitions/consoles. The PS4 Pro has a higher than 60 watts Media mode. Holiday 2018 something greater than PS4 Pro with UHD media DRM 2019 UHD Gaming capable console This makes sense of the several conflicting rumors.
