Kudos to those that want to buy... but it's announcements like this that make me question the overall BD release strategy by studios.

Of all titles available to MGM(/Fox), they decided this one made the most sense? Ooooookay...?

Never seen it mind you I've never seen Plan 9 from Outer Space either. I guess I should brush up on B movies, Plan 9 from Outer Space was on TCM. Ha ha ha. I can rent Plan 9 from Outer Space and Showgirls for less than $ 5.

Neither here nor there, but saw Showgirls during it's original theatrical run. And I own Plan 9 on DVD.

I'd watch Plan 9 20 times in a row before I'd sit through Showgirls one more time. And I'm a big fan of bare breasts.


Just one random opinion. But Plan 9 is a good-bad film. Showgirls is just bad.

mmmm... I have this feeling that Fox/MGM will be releasing the 'extra' features on the DVD only - like they've done with other titles.

As for the 15th Anniversary - couldn't they score a commentary by either Verhoeven or Eszterhas ?? (oh thats right - MGM has no money left ??)

Its also a real pity that filmmakers in the US dont have the BALLS to make films for adults - and get over the NC-17 rating - here in Australia and in the UK films are rated for 18 year olds and over - sadly the MPAA system is shite !! Gee - a few tits and you score a NC17 - blow someone's head off and thats an R and any kid can get to see it !

it is a bad film, but so much fun with friends over. It is a blast, i dislike some of the violence. it is a riot Day one purchase

It's about a young girl (Elizabeth Berkeley) who hitchhikes to Las Vegas and becomes an erotic dancer in a stage show, locks horns with its star (Gina Gershon) and overthrows her, and basically succumbs to the glamor of fame before realizing that it's all for nothing. That description makes the movie sound far better than it is.

Really, the only reason I'd rent this on BD is because Gina Gershon is ungodly beautiful. I'm all for skin and nudity, but this makes Verhoven's Basic Instinct look like an episode of Masterpiece Theatre by comparison.
