considering the recent rumor...just felt compelled to share with you what i sent to wb first class when wickywoo suggested the idea. if you wrote one too, post it here. now i know this is featherweight compared to the real world business contracts that go on behind the scenes...but i would like to think that the consumer does have a voice (when unified). if you're bored or interested - check it out. and again, post yours here too...(even if it was just an e-mail).
August 28, 2007 Warner Bros. 4000 Warner Blvd. Burbank, CA Dear Ms. Marticorena: As the average consumer who weighed his options and invested in Blu-Ray disc, I would like to thank you for staying with Blu-Ray. My investment in Blu-Ray in May of this year was not whimsical, but calculated. I chose Blu-Ray over HD DVD after much research large in part due to its vast studio and competitive manufacturer support as well as its technical superiority. Referencing the introduction of BD-J & BD-Live interactivity, BD+ pirating protection and Mitsubishi's 3D technology on the horizon, the future of Blu-ray is only getting brighter. As a lover of cinema, I am very excited and confident that I made the right investment. The only thing that has me upset right now is the indecision and lack of unified support for a single format. This is what leaves me dumbfounded. If the sales figures continue to consistently confirm consumer support, why in the world are the studios so divided on the issue? Blu-ray's longevity has the most promise. Especially with the growing number of PS3 sales (of which I own) and the inevitable price drop it faces, it can be assured that Blu-Ray will be a market mainstay. Your studio channels excitement through me like no other. If we were to lose you to HD DVD exclusivity, Blu-Ray would be forced to move on with its already strong partnership in Disney, Fox and Sony thereby ensuring the eternal division of the market and would only perpetuate the existing hestitation among consumers to transition into high definition entertainment. The HD market would be rendered paralyzed until Microsoft got its way by monopolozing the market through downloads (of which I would never participate in due to risk and I'm sure you're aware of the potential piracy issues for those as well). If we were to gain you in exclusivity, the gap between Blu-Ray and HD DVD would widen so fast there would be shockwaves sent throughout the HD market and Blu Ray would undoubtedly win, thereby putting pressure on HD DVD studios to jump the fence, unifying the market and restoring consumer confidence. I would no longer need to listen to my friends express their doubts about buying into HD because of this harmful war. As the most important studio on the market, you are the breath of fresh air that we need under these suffocating market conditions. You are the green light. It is your single decision – whether in favor of continued neutrality or exclusivity that will influence the future of home media. I just hope it will be the right one. The one that ends this war and solidifies Blu-Ray as the supplantation of dvd whereby you are hailed as the champ who gave the convicting Knock-Out blow to the uncertainty of the HD market and saved thousands of people from wasting their hard-earned money on an extinct format. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Brian Boozier The Average Consumer P.S. I am not alone in confessing that I am really looking forward to purchasing the Matrix and Batman Begins upon their release. ![]() Last edited by ReduxInflux; 09-26-2007 at 10:58 PM. |

Nice letter. Good to see people not just sending in crazy petitions.

Remember, snail mail counts more than e-mail. If you hand-written it with a quill, it'd be even more impressive.

Very nice. I was afraid it would not be such a good letter, and harass or pressure/annoy them, but it is quite the opposite. This letter seems to give them thanks for their continued support, and I like that.
Very well done. I think we should all sign it ![]() |
