I'm not sure if it is too early to start such a thread, but since we're 2 weeks away from the end of the year, I thought it was OK.
If there is any release you're waiting for (that get's released in these 2 last weeks), you'll free to reply later. Blu-rays from all over the world (and not just USA) could be eligible. So, since I don't care much for extras, my own criteria is high anticipation of a film + quality of transfer of this film on blu-ray. Best release: The Thing (Arrow) (I would put Maurice in its place, but the inferior encoding prevented me from doing so) Most disappointing release: Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Studio Canal) Last edited by thinredline; 12-16-2017 at 11:35 AM. |

There were a lot of great home video releases this year. I can think of many worthy selections for best release. The Thing, Suspiria (Synapse), Ben/Willard, Starship Troopers UHD, APE 3D, Cease Fire 3D, Trailer Trauma 3, Trailer Trauma 4, Doctor Dolittle, I can go on and on it was a really strong year.
Best release: Windows (SF) Most disappointing release: Billy Jack Collection (SF) |

Best: The Fabulous Baron Münchausen by Second Run, because it’s a stunning restoration and Eyes of Laura Mars by Indicator, because I’m the biggest fan of that film and it has long been among my most wanted. Doesn’t look too shabby either.
Most Dissappointing: the Italian 4K TLE restoration of Suspiria and I’m not opening that can of worms again. However I expect the Synapse release which has just been posted to end up being my best release of the year, from everything Ive seen. |

It's the whole slate of Universal titles coming out on 12/26, that's just the one I care about (although I probably would've bought "The Paper" sooner or later). Checking videoeta, I see "Fletch Lives" and "For Richer or Poorer", I think there might be one more but if so I don't see it here.

Are you hoping that if you ask again I will give a different answer? Sorry to tell you but, again, according to videoeta, the answer is yes, it will be burned.

![]() And about videoeta (which isn’t much of a source), I don’t see anywhere on this page it saying it’s a burned disc. https://videoeta.com/items/8131-dead...9;t-wear-plaid Also your snarky attitude with "are you hoping if you ask again..." is really appropriate here, especially when you didn’t tell me the first time? You "explained" by talking about other movies. Last edited by Scarface32; 12-16-2017 at 03:05 PM. |

If you don't trust videoeta as a source, I guess you can just wait for your pre-order to confirm.
![]() (The cover art that doesn't use the Blu-ray logo is a pretty standard tell for burned discs, but I will acknowledge that it no longer specifically says that it's burned on that page.) |

One of the more underrated releases has to be the 4K release of Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. It's not often that a little-seen film gets three different versions included on its home video release (60fps UHD, 3-D Blu, standard 24fps Blu).

Arrow's "Re-Animator" (limited) gets my vote, because I love the movie and the release is so definitive.
