Default The Hand That Rocks The Cradle aspect ratio

I've been buying some region 2 DVD's lately that I'm not fussed about owning on Blu-Ray. This movie is meant to be 1:85 but I get big black bars on the left and right and bars on the top and bottom (much bigger than they should be). All the image is visible but it's pushed back because of this and very small. Just wondering if all the discs were like this.

I don't know about Region 2 DVDs, but the region 1 blu-ray is in it's OAR which practically fill the whole screen, except for a very thin bars on the top and bottom but it's barely noticeable. If I remember the region 1 DVD was not anamorphic.

Yes that's how 1:85 should display on a widescreen TV. If I use my PS4 and select the setting Full I seem to get that so that's the only thing I can watch it on.

My copy had the same issue, but mine was the proper old school release from the late 90s that had the massive ‘widescreen’ on the cover. I thought the disc would be repressed since then.

I ended up getting the Blu-ray.

Maybe the disc is not anamorphic.
Older DVDs usually weren't.
