So this started happening a little while back, and I have opened a ticket with Apple, and from what I have heard it is happening with more then just my hardware combination.
When I set my Apple to TV to Dolby Vision 4K (any refresh rate), and playback specific 4k Dolby Vision titles, some of which are: 1. Arrival, 2. Despicable Me, 3. Despicable Me 2, There is a couple more which I can't remember. The screen with normal brightness blacks out, when I increase brightness to say 90+ I see washed out picture with weird lines, I'll take a picture and post later. These titles with Dolby Vision, playback just fine (to name a few): 1. Allied, 2. Pacific Rim, 3. Sherlock Holmes 1& 2. 4. Batman V Superman, 5. Blade Runner, 6. Dead Pool, 7. Everest. So from what I have heard its happening with more people then just me. My hardware is ATV 4k (thick 6ft cable) -> Denon X4300H -> LG OLED65E6P (using a monoprice Premium certified HDMI cable). I have connected my TV directly with the Apple TV 4k as well, and had same results, I have also done the cable check option from Apple TV settings with no problems. Also if in Dolby Vision, during screensaver playback the screen goes dark. Can someone with similar setup (or not so similar setup) see if its happening with their TV as well with these movies? Thanks |
