Default American Idol Finalists Dropped from their record labels.. what!?

So America's #1 show, American Idol on the Fox network, may be the most watched, but the winners of the show have had a much worse struggle.

Kelly Clarkson - 2 Number 1 albums, Third album tanked hard..
Justin Guarrani - Album flopped, dropped from the label within 3 months of the album being released.

Rubben Studdard - Just dropped from J records this week after 2/3 of his albums failed to produce any hit singles or sell any records
Clay Aiken - Only one successful album, the past 4 have done poorly, expect a drop from his label soon.

Carrie Underwood - Hello success. The beautiful country starlet has become incredibly successful on the country side, and recently on the pop side. Two number one albums, with no sign of stopping.
Diana Degarmo - Album flopped, dropped one month later, now stars in Broadway.
Bo Bice - Dropped from J records, has his own indie label started.

Fantasia - Dropped from J records after 3 albums failed to spark interest. Stars in Broadway

Taylor Hicks - Dropped from J Records this week along with Studdard.
Katharine McPhee - After one mediocore single, the second failed to do anything, album did poorly. No word yet as her label status, she is working on a new movie though.

Jordin Sparks - First single, Tatoo, didnt do much radio/sale wise. Not surprising, dont expect her to be around much longer.

I think theres one im missing but can't remember. I just was in the music industry for a while, thought it was interesting.

So out of the lets say 12-15 total finalists that were made "famous", only 4 of them still have record labels behind them.. Sad -_-V

As much as I hate his closeted little butt, I'll be shocked if Aiken gets dropped

His live shows consistatnly sell out, and he does well on the radio play. He's got a solid audience of 30-45 females

The bottom line is that very few of them have their own talent, they're all just disposible frontmen. For every Bo Bice with real personal talent, there's plenty of Kelly and Clays and Roooobins who have a gimmick. Whether it's singing like a fish, androgeny or sticking it to the white man

the equivilant program here was Pop Idol, Cowell telling useless singers they suck, same format, produced Will Young, who is excellent. that was followed by pop idol, which gave us 2 groups, hearsay and LibertyX(i think)i think libertyX are still going..then pop idol 2 gave us michel mcmanus, nuff said on that i think *shudder*
then we had X factor, same as popidol, but for a wide range of ages. that gave us Steve Besomthingorother, who disappeared as quick as he appeared, Leona Lewis(who is a star, no doubt) and Leon, who isnt. And i cant remember the name of the one i havent named...

You forgot about Katharine McPhee. I think she's on the record label.

This proves little beyond the fact that music industry insiders still have no idea what consumers want. Hence the imminent failure of their longstanding "ram what I want to produce down consumer's throats" business model.
