Default Prometheus (2012): Leaked Early Draft of Script Unravels Mysteries

Prometheus (2012) is a frustrating movie for many of those who have seen it, because it presents very intriguing narrative elements but tells next to nothing about them, thus leaving viewers in a state of dissatisfaction. However and fortunately, recently an early version of the movie's script was leaked, and it provides very clear explanations for mysteries that arise in the film; this early version of the script is discussed in a video that is listed below. However, for those who don't want to watch the video, I have listed some of these mysteries and the explanations for them below. Please provide your thoughts.
  • The movie introduces the race referred to as the Engineers, but it doesn't explain why it is that they engineer life - that is to say why it is that they seed planets with life. The Engineers seed planets with life because they have lost their ability to procreate as a result of their species' evolution. Hence, their goal is to create a genetically descendant species that is as capable as their own and subsequently via which they can continue to figuratively exist after their species has literally died off.
  • The movie depicts an Engineer voluntarily ingesting a substance that causes him to decompose. The substance that the Engineer consumes at the beginning of the film is the blood of a being that the Engineers worship and refer to as their lord. This being is the product of some other, unidentified species procreating with an Engineer, and via its blood the Engineers can create new life with their own DNA, as seen at the beginning of the film.
  • The movie depicts a chamber in which are vases filled with black goo, a giant statue of an Engineer's head, and a mural that depicts an Engineer being attacked and impregnated by an octopus-like creature and that also depicts a creature that vaguely resembles a Xenomorph standing in the shape of a crucifix. However, it doesn’t provide the identities of the Engineers or the Xenomorph-like creature depicted therein. The black goo is the Engineers' failed attempt via biological engineering to recreate the blood of their lord; however, they kept it because they realized its potential as a biological weapon. The Engineer whose head afterwhich the giant bust/ head-satue is modeled is whom they call the Chosen One; he was the Engineer with whom the aforementioned other, unknown species procreated to create their lord. The octopus-like creature that's shown in the mural attacking and impregnating an Engineer (the Chosen One) is presumably the aforementioned other, unknown species; it is the species after which the trilobyte (pseudo face-hugger) was biologically engineered by the Engineers. The Xenomorph-like creature depicted in the mural is the product of the procreation between the Chosen One and the other, unknown species and is therefore the being whom the Engineers call their lord.
  • The movie implies that the Engineers were headed to Earth to destroy us, but it does not explain why. It depicts a lone Engineer onboard the subterranean ship go ballistic by attacking the human characters and then attempt to fulfill the aforementioned goal to wipe out our species. The Engineers had observed and interacted with humanity throughout our development and subsequently came to realize how barbaric and violent we are. To set us on the right path, they took a member of our species to their home planet, Paradise, and taught him their way of life, enlightening him with higher-level knowledge. Afterward, they brought him back to Earth so that he could in-turn enlighten us (i.e. civilize us according to their standards), but we responded by killing him. This member of our species whom they chose but whom we killed was none other than Jesus Christ. The Engineers interpreted our murder of Jesus as the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak, and decided that the Earth needed to be purged of us. Hence, the loan Engineer, who is the last
member of his species, attempts to carry out this goal, as we see in the movie. Because he is the last Engineer, the Engineer-like beings shown in Alien: Covenant aren't actually Engineers but are another offshoot of their species, as are we.
  • The movie depicts another Xenomorph-like creature bursting from the lone Engineer's chest but doesn't explain what this creature is. The Xenomorph-like creature that bursts from the lone Engineer's chest at the end of the movie is the Engineers' intended but failed recreation of their lord. They desperately wanted to recreate their lord, because they needed more of his blood to continue their efforts at creating a worthy genetically successive species to themselves.

This is another Lost type of situation. Those who wanted and needed answers and those who didn’t and just enjoyed the ride. I love this flick and I am not a fan of mysteries being explained away. They gave just enough to wet that sweet whistle. I’m good.

I find it all to be quite interesting and much more intriguing than the final version of the movie.

This might have been an interesting movie if it wasn't tied to the Alien mythos.

I'm going to have to rewatch the movie, because it's been a while since I've seen it.

Prometheus would've been a better movie if it was a straight up adaptation of At The Mountains of Madness and directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Oh yay, it was going to be even MORE convoluted and nonsensical.

Yeah, still don't care. The whole Alien franchise needs to just end already.

If they incorporated all of this into Prometheus perhaps it would have been better regarded and led to a proper sequel opposed to the tripe that was Covenant.

I disagree. I think it would have been rejected even more than it was, and people would have either lost interest completely or the filmmakers would have had to swing even farther away from Prometheus to lure audiences back.

This really. I enjoy Prometheus as a sci-fi version of At the Mountains Madness but not as a quasi Alien prequel.
