Default They should reboot the "Scary Movie" Series

Horror/Comedy spoof movies can play really well in October. Scary Movie 3 opened to 48 Million on its way to 110 Million (rebounding after Scary Movie 2's 20.5/71.3) and Boo! A Madea Halloween opened with 28.5 Million on its way to 73.2 Million. Sure Scary Movie 5 did terrible (14.1/32) but it also looked terrible and released in April. It also didn't even have series regulars like Anna Faris or Regina Hall. I'd seen 1-4 in the series but even I didn't bother with this one.

If they could actually make it funny again and get good comedy writers (not those cheap spoof writer hacks) I think another film could do pretty well during Halloween month. The first two in the series were easily the best for me. How about hiring the Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil guys? That movie was a riot and better than any of the Scary Movie films.

While I really liked the first four, unless they go back to being R rated, there's no point.

Keep Anna Faris in some capacity or GTFO.

Well you liked two of the PG-13 ones. I didn't care much for any of those installments so I agree I'd like them to go back to being R.

3 was mostly funny and 4 was half funny but 5 wasn't funny at all. I just think going back to an R rating would benefit the franchise and bring it back to what it was during the first two seeing as to how it's completely dead in the water now.

The Scary Movie franchise is a Wayans Brothers creation. Keenan directed the first two films with his brothers Shawn and Marlon starring and producing. Then they left the franchise to other people and to me the later films weren’t nearly as good.

So no I don’t think we need any other Scary Movie films. I think it’s gone as far as it can go. I would however be interested in seeing more comedy or spoof films/tv series from The Wayans Brothers or an ORIGINAL horror spoof film from someone else.

With several adjustments (R-rating, Anna Faris) I wouldn't mind, but the chances of it or any straight-up spoof movie happening now is very minimal.

Thanks to those con artists Friedberg and Seltzer I don't think the genre has any chance of coming back for a long time. It's not dead (some good stuff is on Youtube), but in movie form it has been exhausted.

I only liked the first two and thought the rest were horrible.

Yeah they ran this genre into the ground. But that's why I'd like to see quality spoof films make a comeback with better filmmakers.

I hate to say worst remake idea ever, because there are so many shitty remakes, (Jacobs ladder? who asked for that?)

but this is one of the worst movies. it's not made by people who love genre. it's made by stupid *******s who hat the genre and think they're smarter then it. and it led to this awful date/disaster movie similar parody films.
