Warning - Tamil Ayngaran Blu-ray Discs Detecting As "Data BD"

Hello All,

I was recently trying to play the Tamil Ayngaran Blu-ray Discs in my Sony Blu-ray Player but it is detecting as Data BD.

I checked the following movies by playing in Sony Blu-ray Player and Pioneer Blu-ray Writer.

1. When i insert the following discs in Pioneer Blu-ray Writer it shows nothing but blank drive.
2. When i try to play in Sony Blu-ray Player it is detecting as "Data BD" or "Unknown Disc"

Aadhavan, Ayan, Digital Musical Rays Vol - 1, Kanthaswamy, Kuruvi, Paiyaa, Peraanmai, Unnaipol Oruvan, Sivaji

Can someone please confirm if you have Experienced the similar situation.

Can you please tell me is there any solution to resolve this situation.

Attention / Warning: I would suggest to make a backup / soft copy of all Ayngaran Blu-ray Discs or Please do backup of all Blu-ray discs you have.

Eek. I haven't tried my Kanthaswamy disc, but my Sivaji disc has been doing this for a couple of years now

My copy of Sivaji played fine a few months ago. Haven't checked my other Ayngaran discs.

See if the discs will play in your computer's Blu-Ray drive, if you have one. You may have to rip the discs to back them up, in case the originals fail.

@Dragun, Thanks for your reply. When i insert the disc in my bluray drive nothing happens, i would like to know why this is happening to Ayngaran Discs?

I put my copy of Jodha Akbar (French Reg. B) version in my Oppo-203 player for the first time - and it doesn't even recognize the disc - go figure! I still have the 103 of course (worked fine on that one previously) - but haven't tried...

Take the BODEGA FRENCH JODHAA AKBAR Region 2 BD-50 Out

Turn the Oppo-203 OFF.

Turn the Oppo-203 ON.

Wait til "NO DISK" shows on display.

Press "DIMMER, DIMMER, DIMMER, MUTE, No. 2" in this order.

Turn Oppo-203 OFF...Again!.

Turn Oppo-203 ON...Again!. Now, Region 2 BD effect takes place.

Now, Put in you BODEGA FRENCH JODHAA AKBAR BD-50 back into Oppo 203

It will automatically get you to main menu and should play perfectly fine.

I just did all the above. And its working absolutely fine. No problems

^ the above works when u have modded player right? I have 103 modded one and this works on it. But I donno about specifics of the 203 player.

I think I assumed he aleady has "REGION-FREE" Oppo-203 with firmware updates like I do.

I hope his is Oppo-203 Multi-region free.

I have now confirmed the following:

1. If your Tamil Ayngaran Blu-ray disc detects as a "Data BD" in your Blu-ray Player, the disc become faulty / bad. And it will never play in any blu-ray player or it won't even in any bd-writer.

2. If you Tamil Ayngaran Blu-ray disc is playing but if it skips chapters / getting stuck during playback, please clean it hard with a soft cloth. It may work.

Last but not least / My Final Thoughts / Suggestion.

Please do backup all of your Tamil / Telugu / Malayalam Blu-rays using the Blu-ray Ripping Softwares available online into your external hdd, i would suggest "Seagate 4 / 6 TB Backup Plus Hub External HDD".

Should we put some Silica gel dehumidifier where we store our blurays so that we can extend the life of these blurays.

Yes that will help too, also it is good to open the blu-ray box and keep it open for some time instead of keeping it in air tight box for long time.

Hi Prathap,

I am facing the same situation with AADHAVAN Bluray. However, It doesn't show as DATA BD, It says, Unknown Disc .. Very Strange !!

What are the mould IFPI numbers of the defective discs? The mould IFPI number tells us where the disc was pressed, so we can track what other discs might be at risk.



Also, you say to back up all Ayngaran and API discs, but only the Ayngaran ones seem to actually be dying. Have any API discs stopped working for you?

Thank you so much for the information, only Ayngaran Discs are having this situation. All API and Seyons Disc are working fine.
