Default Marantz Unleashes HDMI 2.1-Upgradeable Flagship (AV8805 top of the line)

Marantz Unleashes HDMI 2.1-Upgradeable Flagship

Since I am pre-wired for a minimum of 13.2 channels. This new flagship AV8805 Pre-Amplifier with a list price of $4,499 is something I might consider in the future. It handles all 3 object based surround sound formats (Dolby ATMOS, DTS X, and Auro 3D with a future firmware update). The Marantz AV8805 has 13.2 channel processing with 15.2 channel outputs. A total of 8 full 4K/HDCP 2.2 HDMI inputs and a promised free hardware board change to HDMI 2.1 when the specification is finalized and when HDMI 2.1 board becomes available.

Also of major note is that the Marantz spokesperson told me that every AV8805 would be eligible for a free upgrade to HDMI 2.1 when the specification was finalized and hardware was available. Considering this will require a complete hardware/board change of all HDMI components to support the new standard, this is huge. Marantz is essentially giving purchasers of this processor assurance that they won’t be left behind by the next major technology upgrade, and that if they make the commitment to the 8805, it will be ready to serve them well into the next generation of high-performance.”
