Didn't they have some grand plans for expanding into movies and Hollywood?

I guess it is on indefinite hold right now.

They got crushed when they sent a guy dressed as Master Chief to hand deliver Halo screenplays to all the different Studios. That backfired, and while some interest was there it ultimately went from Studio to Studio. Fox now owns the distribution rights and Peter Jackson was going to produce it. Now it is put on hold indefinitely.
