I'm a 43 year-old man, and I still cry during the scene when
[Show spoiler]Frosty melts inside the greenhouse.

Uh, uh, uh. It doesn't turn 46 until December 7th, 2015! Theoretically, it's still 45 so it counts!

Definitely on my list! New transfer or not, I'm sure it'll be worth the buy (though I doubt will have the original audio track with June Foray as Karen).

Wonder if this time they'll restore Frosty Returns to full HD (by the runtime on Amazon, it looks like it will be included)?

EDIT: Now that I see the date, I think it's an error because 7/1 is on a Wednesday. Other sites like VideoETA are claiming 9/1 which seems to be correct.

It looks like this, and the 45th anniversary edition of "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" will both be included in the upcoming release of "Original Christmas Classics Gift Set 2015".

Here's the link to the pre-order on Amazon...

http://www.amazon.com/Original-Christmas-Classics-Gift-Blu-ray/dp/B00XZF39Z0/ref=sr_1_425?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1432341121&sr=1-425

It looks like it will include...

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Santa Claus is Comin to Town
Frosty The Snowman
Frosty Returns
Mr. Magoos Christmas Carol
The Little Drummer Boy
Cricket on the Hearth

Same nonsense they did with the DVD sets - release the same box seemingly every year, but throwing in maybe 1 never-before-released to DVD special each time, making you buy them over and over again.

I wish they would just release them all. Where's Jack Frost? Pinocchio's Christmas? Rudolph's Shiny New Year? The First Christmas? The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus? The Leprechaun's Christmas Gold?

For that matter, this set is even missing Year Without a Santa Claus and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas - both were previously released on blu-ray. Every format we go through the same thing with these Rankin-Bass specials, and it's annoying. I wouldn't buy this set for the simple reason that next year or the following year they will release another box with another one thrown in, and one newly remastered, making me want to buy that box too. It never ends.

And I already own Mr Magoo's Christmas Carol on blu-ray so there's even less reason for me to want this set.

My most desired Rankin-Bass release is Here Comes Peter Cottontail. Absolutely adored this film as a child. I actually am looking forward to the new set just because I haven't picked up the previous one.

The pre-74 Rankin Bass material is owned by Classic Media/DreamWorks (save the films which are owned by StudioCanal) while the post-74 material is owned by Warner Bros (with the exception of Santa, Baby which is owned by Coca-Cola. Yes, I'm serious about that).

Summer is a strange choice of release date for this title, no? I can't imagine it will sell very well at this time of year.

I think they might be going for the "Christmas in July" angle..

Agreed, though how many people actually get into the "Christmas in July" spirit?

Well the 7/1 release, as I said, could be a typo because 7/1 is a Wednesday.

What an odd time to discuss and contemplating purchasing Frosty:The Snowman, a animated Christmas TV special in the last part of May, on the Memorial Holiday Day Weekend. Christmas is still 7 months away!

No, they released the Christmas specials on DVD before. In fact, the anniversary editions of Frosty and Santa are coming to DVD too.

I meant more that the only thing they release on bluray is Christmas movies.
