I was thinking about this today, as I watched Delicatessen and saw that was coming out on Blu-Ray in September. Hopefully Amelie and City Of Lost Children won't be too far behind!

As much as I love the movie, i'm not sure its worth the upgrade - the DVD is of fantastic quality.

A Very Long Engagement, however... i'd be all over that.

I'm looking forward to this because it's one of my favourite French films and also because I don't own it on DVD ;o)

Well worth the upgrade. I bought the Australian bd as an xmas gift for my wife and there was a BIG difference in PQ. I'm sure the UK release will use the same master.

Bought the french release and the transfer is breathtaking!
English friendly too!

as far as the Amelie BD goes, I wish they dont use the Australian transfer. The french remastered transfer is slightly better. (unfortunately no EN subs on that)

I have got my copy of A Very Long Engagement and concur that the transfer is very impressive...

I will just stick with my Australian copy of Amelie though

As far as I am aware, A Very Long Engagement has english subs for the feature and some extras, but is region B locked.

The french Amelie does not have english subs. I don't know the region on that one.

I'd love a UK release, but knowing my luck they will officially announce it a week after I've imported the Australian version.

The French release of A Very Long Engagement features English subtitles for the Film and all of the special features except the Audio Commentaries.

I have the australian bd and i can confirm its region free(at least region a,b) and has english subtitles. i never owned any dvd editions so i can not compare them but the picture on the australian is (as far as i remember) very acceptable.

I have the Aussie blu-ray which is great picture quality.

I think someone has got confused with the Canadian release, which had no subtitles and had a really poor picture quality.

LOL the Canadian edition was SO bad, the actual movie wasn't even sometimes accessible through the problematic menu they created..

So far here is what with the PQ: (Best to worst)

1. French (remastered with J.P.Jaunet's approval)
2. Australian
3. Canadian
3. Netherlands
